Did you ever have any luck with this? Dealing with this now… with everyone working remotely our old ways of dealing with CC no longer works efficiently. Trying to get the CC out of PP direct to broadcast server in Op1a. I can make video files that work… just no CC… even though media info clearly states it is there.

Did you ever figure this out? Im having a similar issue with getting CC out of premiere pro to our broadcast … the only difference in files working and not working is opposite of yours… My files show ancillary data… files that work show DVTCC/A53 in muxing mode.

    Just curious.

    Thanks.

June 13, 2018 at 3:44 pm in reply to: New to CatDV: how do you handle P.Pro Projects ?

Bryson! This is Josh from Arkansas. Things are rocking along with it fine. I have been mostly experimenting till we can get akomi installed. I have talked with some other users and I am thinking about using a scratch disk for premiere.. Either via facilis or thunderbolt attached ssd. That would give the editors a set destination for those files in the future when creating new projects.. rather than cluttering up the catalog. The editors seem to like this idea as well. Otherwise it is working good. I haven’t had any luck with the premiere panel though. Just sits and spins after putting in the server address.

I don’t mean to hijack.. but I have not been successful at getting the p.panel to connect with the server. I put in the ip and it just sits.. am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to it?

August 3, 2013 at 1:46 am in reply to: Avid MC 7 can’t transcode XDCAM EX

for the most part yes… I have been able to transcode to a usb drive ( all I had at the time ) but it would fail out 3 out of 5 times. . . fails everytime to the TerraBlock. I wiped the computer, rebuilt with fresh downloads of everything .. problem is still there. plugged directly into the Terrablock, problem is still there.
move to another computer.. works fine… same file, same bin… I even changed the computer name to no spaces no caps.. rebuilt it with a new and complete different build of osx.. mc7 and 5.7.3 TB.. no workie.. both avid and Facilis have recommended that the mac has an issue.. but, I have a hard time believing that to some degree.. it works.. and checks out ok.. I supposed the NIC could have a fault.. but we even tried using the thunderbolt connection to Ether.. ( does that use the same NIC in a top end 2013 Imac ? still fails. it reads media fine.. edits fine.. exports fine.. imports fine.. but will not transcode!? I haven’t given up… but I gave him another IMAC for now.. identical build to his original. Any Idea?!?

  • Well, I have to say many thanks to all the post.. and also apologize for the delay in getting back to you all..

after much debate.. and looming fiscal year end, we opted to go with the ” old faithful ” … which is Tricaster. Our current unit has been so reliable!!… pair that with all the people I know that use Black Magic gear who have reliability issues, this made it a no brainer. While it may not be perfect.. we feel it is a good fit.

Granted it is an ” all your eggs in one basket ” deal… as equally disturbing as that is..it is also equally as much a selling point and a good thing. I will actually be gaining some rack space by installing this unit in place of my old one.. this is going in a portable kit… not a permanent install.. and the ability to take this out and have all that power inside that box will be very much appreciated. I have plans to build on its weakness and make the kit better than ( at least more intuitive and user friendly )the 250k grassvalley kit we installed in our studios. I feel it can be done. I will update once the box gets here in a few weeks and let you know how that all goes.

    Thanks again.

Bob, thanks.. I appreciate your knowledge! its things like you just said that are the bullets I need to “sell” an AVID house over to Facillis.. I’ve already got a couple blank stares.. from high ups.. but the people who want to use it and I deal with directly love the idea..

but the last thing I want on my head is a 70k mistake.. having people verify their experiences with both.. and which is superior, solidifies the technical into real world practices and experiences.. I can take that to them and show them what other users are saying and why they went away from avid.

Thanks again for your input.. its is all very helpful.

I thought I would share some of the specs we are looking at..

    TerraBlock 24D 48TB
    8gb Fibre
FTI 26p10gsw Ethernet switch 24 port
    finisar 8.5 Gb/s Transciever
    Q-logic SANbox 8 port switch
    Atto Celerity 81es fibre cards
    Finisar 8.5 GB Transcievers

thats the bulk of the hardware with some other misc. needs I didn’t list.

while the ISIS was only 32 TB and purely Ethernet

    What do you think?

ok. good info guys.. just need some info on what ( besides crappy support from avid) makes TerraBlock better than ISIS5000..

when you work in agencies like mine.. all the high ups want to know is bullet points.. it does this.. that .. the other.. while avid does that .. not this.. and won’t do that.

appreciate all the info! and if you have any personal reasons why you like Terrablock over AVID share away..
