Thanks for the additional ideas! Tried that — same same.

Understood on the H264, that may well be the problem. I do wish there was a simplified text tool that didn’t have all the bells and whistles that the fancy Premiere text tool has. Sometimes I just need to put some letters on the screen without having to sift through an advanced motion graphics interface. It’s an excellent tool for what it is, but serious overkill for some purposes.

The part that’s most puzzling to me is that it still creates the same playback artifacts even AFTER rendering the previews. At that point, it should be referencing ProRes422LT render files from a totally different cache, shouldn’t it?

Thanks again for the feedback here! I’ll experiment with proxies when I’m past my next big deadline!

Hi Ivan! Thanks so much for the reply!

Yes I’ve done all those things except changing the hardware acceleration, I’m not sure what that is? Since I have the M3 Max Mac there’s not a 3rd party video driver to fuss with (at least not that I’ve found), so I’m not sure if that’s something I can do on this machine or not. If you have any suggestions on that front I’m super down to try anything!

The font is the default font, no 3rd party plugins, and I’ve been cutting for 4 months with no trouble, so the areas that are problematic are areas that previously were fine. That’s the part that’s so confusing. I even tried importing a project into a fresh project and it seemed to help for a minute, but then went back to the same behavior.

Even when I render the graphics and have a green bar, anywhere I have text events playback hits a roadblock for 2-3 seconds, and then goes back to normal.

Thank you for your input! I’ll do some research on what you suggested!

THANK YOU for all the awesome thorough details! As I mentioned above, I didn’t actually know about all this amazing functionality — and now I’m stoked!
If I start cutting more with BRAW I’ll definitely consider your product, it sounds very well thought out. I hope I get that opportunity, this is great!
    Thanks again!

Wow!! Thank you so much for this very useful information! I didn’t actually know about all these parameters inside Premiere, nor did I know the extraordinary capability of the BRAW system as I don’t actually own one and I’m just cutting. I was just using my normal RAW/Proxy workflow as I would with a RED or SONY camera. That’s awesome!
Interestingly, the proxies that I rendered, while cutting before I had to rebuild my system, looked the SAME as the BRAW footage when I toggled on and off. When I open the proxy and BRAW files individually, they look RAW (washed out), as they do now in Premiere. In the pre-rebuild cutting project, BOTH the proxy AND the BRAW looked as though they had a LUT applied. Does that mean that Premiere would have been applying the LUT to both? I guess that’s the only thing that makes sense.
I didn’t know about the settings to turn on or off the LUT on individual clips inside Premiere! How cool! It must have been a default setting of some kind, and maybe after the rebuild it defaulted to something else. Honestly, I have a VERY hard time finding information about this in the Support section on the Black Magic website. The hardware stuff is easy to navigate — but the software section basically just reads like a newsfeed. There’s no simple list of downloadable software and support material I could find. If I type BRAW into the search bar, it can’t find anything. I would have loved to have read more about this functionality but I couldn’t find the information! Is it somewhere easy and I’m just missing it?
THANK YOU for your quick response — this sounds like something I’ve been aching for for years, and I can’t wait to dig in!

  • THANK YOU!!
That’s exactly what I needed to know!!
I’ll figure out a different way to make this work.
    THANKS!!

  • Yeah, I tried posting to the forums. Their tech support is rather opaque, and their Dell Community seems to be about the least participated tech forum I’ve ever seen for a company that size. I put up a post and didn’t get a single view in more than a week, so figured I’d try here! This community has always been so helpful with Adobe and Mac was hoping someone might have run into a similar problem at some point…
    Thanks for the reply!
