March 12, 2009 at 1:03 pm in reply to: WHY is FCP exporting my sequences as 4:3 ??

    Oh….

so when i start a new sequence, i should manually set it to 1024 by 576? I was just dropping the footage in, and letting it automatically size the sequence to the footage, to avoid the need for rendering.

or should i just go apple prores 422? Isnt that like a golden solution to everything?

    Thanks for your reply!

OK I guess around the $6,500 mark. Or is that too cheap for something that should still be very competitive in a couple of years.

The computer will be used mainly for FCP shooting HDV footage, and also a lot of Motion 3 work, so it will need a lot of RAM.

thank you both very much. it works.

  • Is this how I do it:

CREATE AN NTSC DV FILE FROM PAL DVD VIDEO_TS Using MPEGStreamclip.

Compress that file using compressor 120 minutes settings

Burn in DVD studio Pro, Making sure DVD studio pro is set to NTSC.

The only problem is that MPEGStreamclip keeps exporting 4:3 videos, even when i select 16:9 in options. No idea why??

  • thanks very much ill try that.

  • Actually i think there is something weird going on.

When i bring the M2v file into DVD studio, it registers as 3.8 Gig, even though the file is only 3.4 gig.

Then, even when i try bringing in a 71 MEG mp3 file for audio, it takes the total DVD up to 4.8 Gig.

Whats going on, some kinda glitch?

Also the little status dot next to the audio is always yellow. What does that mean?

actually now its over 100gig i miscalculated before it finished outputting.

It is a long timeline, around 3 hours.

is there no way to justcompress it all down to fit onto one DVD?

i want to play it in DVD players, not a data DVD

Im working in Apple Prores 422(HQ)

All footage was captured in HDV 1080150 (PAL)

I tried exporting an MPEG 2 using compressor, it quits and displays ‘general error’ after a few hours and there is no MPEG 2 file. Only an Aiff.

I am using an external which has been selected as scratch, it has around 160 gig free.
