Maybe a stupid post with a million different types of response, but….

I am speccing out a computer for work. And I was wondering if you could reccomend a setup that is somewhere around the mid price range but will still be good in a few years time.

Not expecting to work with dual monitors, but will be using FCP and motion heavily.

A lot depends on what type of work you are doing, and what type of media you are working with.

Can you give a bit more detail about what’s coming in to your system, and what format you are finishing in (what’s going out)?

What is your definition of “mid price range”? Once we know that we can better make sugestions.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

OK I guess around the $6,500 mark. Or is that too cheap for something that should still be very competitive in a couple of years.

The computer will be used mainly for FCP shooting HDV footage, and also a lot of Motion 3 work, so it will need a lot of RAM.
