Sasha – I would use four instances of particles – two for the snow blasting forward off the V blades, then two straight trails, on top, but soft masked slightly into the “forward” particles. If you look at the still, it will be clear. The first foot or so in front of the blade would be snow repelled by the blade on the front of the speeding car. Then gravity, plus the fact that the snow has been pushed at a 45 degree angle, and is no longer in front of the plow blades, creates the trails going off on either side of the car. You might also add a couple more particle instances for where the snow plume from the front hits the snow just to either side of the car, and maybe also small particle plumes coming off the back of the car and the tires. This depends on whether you’re pushing powder snow or wetter snow…
Bear in mind, of course, that the image you provided is entirely fake as well. If you mounted plow blades on the front of a passenger car, it would not only collapse the frame, but the second you hit snow (if you got that far), it would crumple the front end.

You’re lucky you didn’t get a lawsuit! Pond5 is a very good, very affordable source for music and sound fx. If you happen to own Audition, you can download a free, extensive sound effects and music library as well. There are also loads of free sources for music and sound fx, some good, some bad. Just do a search for either open source music or free music, or check out some of the sites here:

I didn’t see what platform you’re on, but depending upon the mouse and keyboard drivers you have at your disposal, there’s a way to customize them specifically for certain software packages. If you’re on Windows, and have a Microsoft keyboard, there will be a Mouse setting in the Control Panel. You can go in and specify the .exe file you want to have custom settings (in your case, the Premiere one), change those, and you may see a difference.

Have you gone into the Windows Sound settings in the Control Panel to check the setup there? It’s the only other thing I can think of that might be the culprit. Also bear in mind when shooting with that long lens, that you’d better have a rock solid tripod, and you may want to set up your shot and lock it off. In the balcony, if there’s a choir there, or an organist, you may want to check out the vibration levels from either of them – they could introduce unwanted jitter in the long shot.

Have you checked the gain settings for your SoundBlaster card, as well as any Windows input levels (which should be bypassed by the drivers for the SoundBlaster card). It may be just a matter of kicking up the gain on your input before it gets to Audition.

Dave hit the nail on the head. I’ve done this effect for many generations of Ski Reports, and the native AE plugin will do the trick. I would suggest that if you want it to be snowing, as well as have the snow “splash” happen, that you use two separate particle systems on two different layers. The trick with the impact will be the timing; the force of the hit moves the snow fast, then gravity takes over, and it drifts down more lightly. Here’s a good example:

While I don’t think you’ll have any problems with Win8 (both Audition and MS Office work fine on it), you might possibly run into some granularity issues with touch control on the Tablet PC (lack of fine control). Anyone with experience in this should weigh in here.
