I’ve actually seen some Hammond B3 and other B model organs over the last few years on the Craigslist Free section. I would have loved to have taken it home, but where do you put such a beast? And the ones I happened to see listed had Leslies included with them! This is in New England, New Hampshire specifically. I don’t think that the newer generation – at least up here – values the sound and history of these organs.

Have you seen this relatively new script on AEScripts.com? It might be just what you need:

You might also be able to do what you’re attempting with the AE text animation presets.

Microsoft is essentially a software company – they began moving into the hardware realm around 2011, and have not seen great success in that side of the business. According to their 10-K annual report, required by the SEC for all publicly traded companies in the US, they imply that there are too many “risk factors” inherent in the hardware side of things, and it would reduce their operating margins:

Seems to be almost the inverse of Apple’s approach to things, but it certainly works for Microsoft.

    Neil –

This is something to be very aware of when buying templates. Usually, the template creator will put somewhere close to the top of the template page, “Requires Particular plugin”, or whatever other third-party plugin might be required for it to work.

If it wasn’t clearly stated on the template page, then you should request a refund from the template creator.

The good news here is that what’s going to grab the viewers’ attention is the kiss. If people are looking at his shoulder and the background, they’re looking in the wrong place. You and the camera person are probably the only ones who will notice the “problem”.

  • Here’s a very useful video on different ways to achieve this. Personally, I own a couple of Manfrotto super clamps (pricey), several of the mini-clamps (not Manfrotto and cheap) which are close to 2 inch max opening. A couple of 7 inch magic arms – Chinese, and very good, but not for heavy equipment. A must have is sandbags, which will anchor your light stands, even if they’re light duty. I buy the Giottos small ones from B&H, and then put 2.5 pound weights for weight lifting in them (they hold 2). This method avoids the sand or lead shot, and they’re very easy to work with. Anyway, here’s the video:

There are also adapters (Matthews is one manufacturer) called a double-header and triple-header, which would do what you want in one solution, but they aren’t so cheap:

Well put, Tim. It appears that the naysayers (anti-subscription)have realized that Adobe is not going to change direction, and the prosayers are happy with the subscription model, and have moved on. Why shout your opinion to an echo chamber when the wall is the only one listening?

  • Hi Adrian –

There would be no need to shoot the actor over a greenscreen, since the artist would just be selectively rotoscoping the talent on a new layer, which would be keyable. The actor shoot would just be reference to get the motion right – no need for quality (necessarily). And the rest could have been stills from Photoshop or Illustrator which were then “jittered” as needed in After Effects.

There is a cartoon plugin that’s part of the Red Giant suite that might get you close to the look you’re going for.

  • It appears to me that at least the character animation is rotoscoped, that is, reference video was shot, and then the artwork was created frame by frame to match the video. Other parts of the scenes (trees, flowers, landscape, for example), might have been created separately, and given a “jittery” effect in After Effects. There is quite a bit of talent shown here, so it’s not something you’re going to just be able to take stills or video and use a plugin to replicate. Time and talent…

Well, Jim, some of them will, some of them won’t – I think Stefan was just trying to be helpful. In Audition I generally find a clear spot where there is only noise, then use Capture Noise Print, which grabs only the noise. Then I save that, and remove it from the master clip; it takes a bit of experimentation to know how agressively you need to apply it. There’s a walkthrough of your options here:
