  • I’m not sure whether this info will help you out, but it appears that you can have file-based Metadata:

This won’t get you sequence-based Metadata, but it might be a step in the right direction. Adobe Bridge will also give you access to a wealth of metadata information, some of it “under the hood” stuff. But it looks as if the Metadata breaks down into “file”, “clip”, and “project”. Here’s the word from Adobe:

The one thing you should absolutely do is to make incremental saves as you work on it. Multiple copies of the file will save you from the time you make new revisions, then go to open it up, and it won’t open. This has nothing to do with the size of the file – I’ve had good luck with large projects, but that doesn’t mean that you will. It all depends on the media, plugins, and procedures you use. Keeping the last file you worked on successfully is insurance that you can go back should the next version fail to open.

That’s information you will have to get from the public access channel. Just about every television entity has a one-sheeter (usually a pdf they can email you) giving you the exact specs for spot submission. You can generally get it from the sales or production department.

October 6, 2017 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Animated Brand Reveal suggestions needed

I would suggest that you go to WordPress support, and more specifically, to the creator of the template you are using. WordPress is a whole different animal than After Effects, and themes created for WordPress have entirely different structures from anything in the AE world. I use both WP for my website, and AE for motion graphics, and I go to the WP template creator and their support when I need answers. Good luck!

And don’t forget Adam – if you don’t have a complete backup offsite, then you don’t have a backup at all…

Without knowing anything about the brand of printer, whether your drivers are up to date, and other technical issues which could be causing the problem, I would suggest saving a .png or .jpg, and then printing it using the native file viewer on your computer. This should bypass any Adobe issues, and help narrow down the problem.

September 18, 2017 at 3:55 pm in reply to: Naming Convention Advice

To keep things straight in my head (I’m a one man shop), I generally use lower case letters (for example, “UMass_Medical_v1”), continuing on numberically. When the client has seen a version, I change the “v1” to “V1”, so I can immediately tell that there has been a client review by the capital letter. Once the client has submitted changes to me, I add to the name “REV” (for example, “UMass_Medical_V1_REV1”), which allows me to easily track the revisions as they go along. I also manage all of my projects in Adobe Bridge, so I use the labeling tools to mark versions which are out for review, or have been approved. This works very well for me; not sure how it would succeed in a multi-editor workflow. Another great thing about Bridge is that I can look up what project file the rendered output came from quite easily.
