[Adam Hendershot] “Also, is the telecine control still in the Linux version? We currently run a 2K/Shadow telecine setu”

I don’t know if the answer is confined to the Mac product but the answer in regard to the Mac is no, as I understand it from Dwaine’s response in:
    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/277/114
Linux may be different, but he doesn’t differentiate. Although he may be able to perform many other calculus operations.

At the moment, according to the published specifications, its the Tangent Wave and the proprietary DaVinci Resolve panel. Apparently the 2k+ panel will work on the linux version?

A lot of floor-talk about supporting many more… but …” ignore the man behind the curtain.”

    Why would it need to?

I thought real time full deBayer would be part of the Resolve platform.

If its “full-featured”, no reason to doubt that it could. Its in the manual.
In truth, my Tangent-200 panels could be used to control a Spirit, using the telecine’s internal corrector.

It would be like the old original Leonardo, telecine-only controller.

  • My bet is “no.”.

The 2k+ interface is a custom-build for that architecture, and my sense is that the Blackmagic Resolve/Mac is another departure. Thats just an opinion and it would be up to someone from BM to clarify that.

Yes, these are precisely the questions that i would be asking if I were wandering the aisles at the LV Convention Center.

I’ve got $20K worth of Tangent-200 panels sitting here. I’ve got an old Quadro 4500FX that was virtually useless in COLOR/FinalTouch, and I’ve gotten used to the FCP/COLOR “integration”.

DaVinci/Blackmagic Resolve will still require a revision in mind-set, because its core engineering is still for a single-layer tape-to-tape workflow. If Blackmagic can give us what we started out with, plus multi-layered (and keyable) sequences from FCP, I would begin to think that personal jet-packs are truly next.

The curse is “May you live in interesting times”, so we must have done something really bad to deserve this.

Yes, it was moribund for so long, it was beginning to look like a mistake.

    No longer.

Have you tried the NDD version driver?

That was the issue for me.

daVinci used to keep a public list of operators on davsys.com and another possible source would probably be colorist.org (the TIG group).

November 24, 2009 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Resolve EDL formats

I’m gathering that not much has changed, and a colleague responded thus:

“CMX3600 vision only generic edits (no B-Reel, no Pre-Read) of the target video track only (usually V1).
I’ve not had any problems with the number of characters in the file name but it’s usually sensible to keep it short.
I have had Avid warn me if there are more than 1,000 events in the EDL as CMX3600 lists can only go up to event 999. Longer timelines will need to be split to accommodate. I don’t know how clever Final Cut Pro is on this score but it’s never arisen.”
