Hard and fast rules are quite entertaining these days.

59.94 is a 720P format and you’ll be fine with 29.97 for everything else. Watch your interlacing dominance. External applications that make assumptions about the framerate of source media with respect to the sequence settings will introduce mismatches in trims and durations.

You cannot change the framerate of a sequence once you have added media to it.

MC6 does not require LION to run. If you were good with Snow Leopard, that might be a place to start.

[Toby Tomkins] “Will Resolve even make use of it!?”

Yes it will. As your projects grow in size, it will delay the onset of the “Resolve is running out of memory” warning. The more active source media, stills, etc., that you have in the tent, the more memory you will need.

There is a support partition in the Blackmagic Design website that will yield detailed information about your hardware configuration.

That said, 6 Gig seems a bit light.

    Q4000 is slow.

[julius karli] ” I can still run, with my GTX570, RED files in 3K with about 7nodes with blur.”

    This is a Windows platform?

If so, Apple better get busy. At this point MacPros are looking really, really sloooowwwwwww.

  • [Bill Ravens] “Thanks for the clue.”

Any suggestion that gets us through these annoyances, I’m all ears for those. Me, I took a day off.

I recently completed a series that was sourced AVCHD, consolidated and exported DNxHD(MXF/AAF), round tripped in Resolve and exported back to Media Composer. We hit the scaling mismatch immediately, but fortunately I’d already seen it — simply fixed by getting off the “auto” settings.

I don’t know where the ambiguity comes from. I blame Apple.

[Thomas Maier] “But can you please say something about the cp200 panels?
I remember a post some time ago you mentioned that they may be supported by Resolve… “

I’m going to say “not bloody likely” so that Peter can contradict me, vis a vis “Element”.

  • AFIK Lite doesn’t support any export functions. Whether the opposite direction is available…. Good question. And if you used any functions that Lite doesn’t support, like NR, the project won’t completely reconstitute.

    However, two words: Fed Ex.

Hard to say. Sounds like a kind of handle confusion. For awhile I was getting doubled up fillers at commercial slug breaks, but it was because there was also a text generator imbedded, and so the text generator was added on V1 as a serial stream media clip. Interestingly, at least to me, the AAF reconstructed in exactly the same way (double duration) when opened in Premiere.

And so exactly why are you not simply importing the AAF and allowing the Conform dialog to import the media?

  • Reiterating. We have seen it, done it, measured it, chose the correct RGB/Y’CBCr scaling and fixed it.
