  • 🙂 The number of times I’ve given Sony my email address and they still never use it. What does this upgrade contain? I wasn’t even aware of it.

It’s a really great piece of kit. I looked at several options before deciding. Glad I went with it.

    Jeremy,

I’m with John on this one. Having used both on my NX5 I would say go for that wireless option. It is so versatile.

    Cheers,

Thanks for both those tips Michael. That’s exactly why I like this site. Really useful stuff.

As far as I’m aware, this is called the “Worldcam Upgrade” – it’s a bought/paid for service provided by Sony – I’m not aware of a download etc. that gives you the funtionality but let me know if you find a way please.

    Hi,

I had a look at a number of third party 35mm lens adapters over the past few weeks (Sony don’t do one). Here’s an interesting article that looks at a few of them.

    https://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?124043-HERE-YOU-GO.-My-M2-Brevis-SGPro-Letus-experiences

Personally, I went with the Cinevate’s Brevis MP2 as portability/lightweight is an issue for me…. but it would have been really easy to have chosen one of the others.

I think the main thing I did learn from the investigation is that the quality of the 35mm lens you stick on the front is at least equally as important as the adapter kit. The Brevis has an older Nikon mount which will allow me to put a really good, fast Zeiss lens on it.

Can’t report any results on the Brevis yet as it only arrived a couple of days ago and I am up to my ears at the moment so haven’t the time to really try it out until next week or the week after.

Please drop me an email if you want to know more – josephmorgan at dublin dot com

I hope it all ends in a firmware upgrade because I would never have bought an NX5 if I knew this problem existed.

I will see if there’s anything I can do to start causing trouble at my end too (Ireland).

    Cheers,

    Hi Marcel

I have been looking into this dof area quite a lot in the past two weeks.

The SG Blade looks quite interesting. The company is based in the UK. https://www.sgpro.co.uk/

For a lower budget, have a look at Hollywood DOF.

There are a number of others out there. Let me know if you need any more info.

    Cheers,

This is a new one on me. I haven’t filmed any one clip that’s as long as 30 minutes.

Have you contacted Sony support? We all need to hear the answer on this one.

    Regards,
