HXR-NX5U NXCAM Camcorder Firmware Version 4.0 Software Update

Forgive me for asking, but how do you update the camera? I got mine over 2 years ago. Is this something I should do?

🙂 The number of times I’ve given Sony my email address and they still never use it. What does this upgrade contain? I wasn’t even aware of it.

Looks like it’s a ‘Windows only’ process though… and I don’t do Windows. Personally, I’m not going to bother.

OK, I just tried, unsuccessfully to update my NX5U.

I have windows 7 pro 64 bit.
I followed the instructions and got into an endless loop, so I had to shut down the computer and remove the cameras power to get out of it.

There is a step in the process where it says to select the remove device from the usb port, first by clicking on the software icon.

Well there was no software Icon giving me that choice. So I did a search and found the device driver, and told it to stop so I could remove it, but it wouldn’t obey. The sony software wouldn’t let me go further. I waited an hour, no help. THen I removed the USB cable, but the camera would not even shut down. With the off switch off. I had to remove the power. Then I had to reboot my computer.

If anyone has managed to get this to work, please let me know.

I had no problems at all updating the firmware on one of my NX5U cameras. Sadly, the firmware update did not fix the problem I was having, so it’s off to the factory with this one.
