Strangely (I’m assuming Eduardo is having the same issue), and what makes me believe that this is at the program level, rather than any issue with my config or the driver level, is that scrubbing & source->record edits are instantaneous, it’s only trims & and direct timeline manipulation.

New to Avid (well not really, but haven’t used it in about 6 years), but I’m getting the EXACT same issue. I’m doing a project with the trial to see if I’m going to go with Avid or Premiere as my main editor. Makes working such a drag.

The 590/580 are obviously going to max out and have issues on a real mac pro without some hardware upgrades. However, anyone have any experience with 570, in a macpro?

I’m working with someone for a tool for that for my facility, as doing it by hand is time consuming.
Is this something there’s you guys would pay for?

I have to agree with to Robert…
if apple cared about the Mac pro, there would have been model with thunderbolt. Put it this way. If fcp is dead, and you want to run avid or premiere pro at a resonable price apple is just not cost effective.

Weird update:
In settings > Playback
Changed Default player from Blackmagic design to Default Adobe, and all my problems went away. (still getting output to my broadcast monitor through BMD card though). Feeling much better, and able to actually edit.
Anyone out there have an explanation for this?

Your budget is too low… Sorry. Sucks but it’s the truth.
Best bang for your buck right now are the Flanders Scientific models. They also have built-in scopes, and a bunch of features, and are very accurate, as the company tests and probes them before going out.Nthey also have hdsdi in.
The problem is that no one has a calibrated monitor in the real world… But home theatres are getting somewhat closer.
I currently have the 23″ model and I’m very very pleased. I like it better than any other LCD “broadcast” monitor I’ve worked with. The problem isn’t just how good the monitor is, it’s how it’s calibrated.

I think I specc’d a minimum working windows box at ~800$ a while ago, minus the black magic card
