I’d love to see a screenshot of the timeline & composition – but some questions.
What’s the blending mode on the graphic? Is there something covering it? Is it, assumedly, a clean alpha in AE?
Does the same thing happen with a Garbage Matte instead of Crop?Once it finishes its fade, does it look normal?

What about just exporting the video from Premiere without any crop, then just mask it in AE?

What is the purpose of the crop? Graphics from underneath? Graphics above?
Since you need a consistent crop on unconsistent footage (scales/repositions), then what is the consistent – a graphics overlay, etc.? Can you do what is needed on that track/footage/graphic, and get the effect you want without touching the footage itself?

So I know this is over 3 years, so apologies for resurrecting the dead. Just wanted to post in case someone else finds this via Google like I did.
In regards to Aza’s question, where if you have a smaller footage layer, such as a comp from iStock, and want to replace it in your final output after client approval, etc., then pre-comp your footage, leave attributes, and then replace it within the pre-comp. Scale it down there, etc., and then in your main comp it’ll be golden, barring any crazy pre-comping that’s already present – even then if you go to the base footage layer, you should be fine.

Ah! Thanks for sorting me out on that.
And I heard through the grapevine that Kylene got it sorted out. She didn’t have 5.5, but *cough* Final Cut and used its equivalent.

What software version do you have? Have you tried using Warp Stabilizer from premiere cs5.5 or later or after effects CS6?

Here is a screen capture of the footage with Quicktime 7 Pro, Log & Transfer, and then FCP Viewer. Overly saturated in Viewer, despite looking at the same exact file with no filters.

Should be a click-drag of the CS5’s plug-in folder to the 5.5 plugin folder, and hit Cmd-Alt before releasing. Creates a shortcut/alias.

Though I don’t have 5.5, and can’t verify this for sure, Todd Kopriva talks about using a shortcut to the old CS5 folder in this thread:

Todd meant he created a shortcut within the 5.5 folder that points to the 5 folder’s plugin, if I read it correctly.
The new features don’t necessarily help my company & what we do (though the warp stabilizer is tempting), so I was not in favor of upgrading. Thank you, Kevin, for a good overview so I know from someone who has used it that I’ll survive till Production Premium 6.0.
