Two issues I see with the last of the files to edit with on this project…
Issue one, some of the files that I see within the Media Tool database the audio is flatlined within the audio track and not working (silent). I have picture, but not the audio track to go with it although the media shows like it is a viable track (not MEDIA OFFLINE) just flat lined with no waveform.
Issue two, there ar e some files I do not see within the media tool. These are files that I have transcoded into mxf files. I do see them within the mxf/2 folder on the hard drive but cannot see them within the media tool within AVID. I have created ALE’s and tried to link them, but that does not work either. I have tried deleteing the database files within the mxf/2 folder. Does not work…
Anyone with any other suggestions?

That is a good idea, but how would you create “dummy master clip with timecode that spans all other clips”?
What is the most cameras can you group at once?

Yeah I tried that already and it did not fix this issue. Thanks for the response. If any one else has any ideas… I am all ears… or eyes…

I believe so. I see the files within the media tool after I have selected the correct drive and project name.

Originally the r3d files were brought into a FCP system then transcoded over to this PC avid via redrushes. The files were already on the drive when I started this show.
For other media I needed to bring in I used metafuze to scan drives and then I created an ALE before bringing in that particular footage.
The media I am working with is from the original files. So I don’t think the metadata they brought in was much if any.
The real crux is when I try to relink the A1 track after modifying it, it says “no source media found”. Is there any workaround that you can think of or do I have to blow out that media and reimport it? That will be days of time wasted…

I had originally tried the exporting of an ALE but that did not work within the text editors’ I used to then re-import the modified ALE (without the A1). The AVID would not accept the edit change and would not recognize the ALE. I did not change anything but the column the VA1 was in.
So I had to modify the track within the Bin. I thought, and was told, that I would be able to turn back on the A1 track within the modify tool, but it will not reconnect or relink back to the audio files which are there in the media tool, but are not relinking correctly. The files are there, but they are not recognizing the audio associated with the file.
Please help if you understand what is going on….

December 15, 2009 at 12:29 am in reply to: Modifying tracks-source files and tape namesI have highlighted, modified and added the A1 and then done the relink but it does not bring it back, or at least it does bring back a flat lined audio track without the audio.
I can see the media is still there via the media tool. Just not when modified.
I have been wrestling with this now for a couple of days as I do not want to re-import the media on those elements that I am having issues with. Any other suggestions? I had heard that since it was saying “no source media” when I tried the relink that it needed a tape name… this was brought in via red files so there was none in that field. hmmmmm frsutrated, it seems no one has seen this before.
