Hi Gary
Sorry should of mentioned that I am mastering to HDCam SR. Can they record progressively too? Shouldn’t I still make it progressive before it gets to that point?
Cheers,

Tip for Magic Bullet Looks:
Use FCP 3 way CC to do a primary grade, and use Looks as a secondary.
This will save you stepping in and out of Looks to do primary, making the process a lot faster. So first pass, primary with FCP 3 way, second pass – add look and render, third pass fine tweak and render. Don’t forget to add auto-shoulder clamp luma levels (this will save you adding broadcast safe via a nest in FCP)
I assign ‘Y’ on keyboard to ‘open’ in Canvas, to sync viewer with canvas to allow instant access to CC controls.
5 series grading with it so far, loving it!

November 26, 2009 at 7:12 am in reply to: Gamma (and color) shifting from AE to FCP from RED FilesGlad you solved it. Have you checked on AJA’s site if you have the latest driver? I tend to use the fail safe animation codec as it transcodes and renders faster in AE, and let FCP do the rendering in whatever timeline you’re working in. I prefer AJA myself.
have you tried:

Have you tried rendering to the animation codec?

November 25, 2009 at 11:50 am in reply to: Gamma (and color) shifting from AE to FCP from RED FilesThis worked for me on a 1080i Prores project on 6.0.5 and AE CS3:
“Spoke to one of the very helpful guys at AJA and he suggested removing a codec that installs with the A Io control panel. root/ library/ Quicktime/ AJAUncompressed”

Graded a series for Animal Planet using MB looks with a 1080i Prores timeline – was fine (abeit slow renders – but hey had lots of heavy grades) when using 6.0.5 – make sure it’s upgraded – it kept on crashing on 6.0.3. Tried trashing prefs?

[Baz Leffler] “#101 allow the ‘broadcast filter’ to always remain LAST in the stack of filters so it corrects for everything above.”
I find the easiest way to nest then put the broadcast safe on that nest last. That way if the time line is rendered, it will not have to render those effects again, and then you can play out realtime via Kona, AJA etc.

shift – delete and use auto selects?
fast edting using keyboard:
Q – toggle viewer canvas
F6 then track number to patch video
F5 then track number to patch audio
F9 insert
F10 overwrite
command 4 – navigate to browser and arrow keys and return to select.zooming – you can hit x to mark clip then hit shift z – tho doesn’t zoom that far.
maybe do a search in keyboard commands to find what you are lloking for.
