That’s really not a problem. You can position the point between the poses and transition down to the exact frame you want. Simply look for the three rectangles that look like they have two mountains in them. Click on the middle one to zoom in as far as you need, to zoom in on the part of the timeline you want. The motion in the transition begins at that exact moment. The ease controls will affect the ramp up and ramp down speed for the transition. Zoom out by clicking on the first set of mountains.

Another way:

Create the rings image on a square Photoshop document and save it with an alpha channel. Apply that image to a square plane primative in Invigorator.

The illusion works unless you plan on getting really close to the rings and flying through them like NASA animations. You would have to use a very high resolution image with the little chunks of material.

The first thing I’d do is download the latests version of Invigorator, 4.0.8 from the Zaxwerks site:support>download software. That may very well clear up your issues.

Congrats on getting the new machine. I’m not sure if there’s a question in your post, but I can tell you that After Effects and Invigorator are NOT yet written in universal binary code, so they’ll run under the emulation portion of the operating system. It’s called Rosetta.

AE’s performance under Rosetta will likely be significantly slower than it will be when Adobe and the plug-in developers make the transition.

I’m looking forward to that day, but I believe we’ll have to wait until the first quarter of 2007 to see After Effects or the CS3 bundle.

You can certainly use Invigorator or ProAnimator to produce elements for this sort of thing.

You might want to look at the digital juice products as examples of what you’re trying to accomplish, though I haven’t seen any tutorials specifically about creating lower thirds or other title effects, beyond the basics.

Hi Jon,

ProAnimator 4 gives you three ways to interact with After Effects.

1) use the stand-alone version to create movies with alpha channels and import those into AE.

2) use the PA Plug-in to render your 3d animation directly inside of After Effects. The effect is normally applied to a 2D layer, but you can use comp lights and camera.

3) create an animation in the standalone version and save the project. import the object and camera data (not the actual object) into after effects. AE assigns solids as placeholders for the PA objects. You can use those solids or replace them with whatever you want.

Hi Side FX,

First of all, go ahead and install Illustrator CS or CS2. Since you’re using an older version of Invigorator, you’ll need to use the export command and choose a legacy Illustrator format. You won’t find the option under Save As… The newer Illustrator verions will work fine.

You didn’t say which version of AE you’re using, but that choice, in combination with the relatively old version of Invigorator may have something to do with the crashing.

For what it’s worth, you could upgrade to Classic 4.0 from 3.0 for less than $100 dollars. That would likely solve your crashing problem — though you’ll still be running under rosetta until AE and the plugins are offered in universal format.
