THanks. i’ll have a look at Mocha.
But i’ve been having a play with VirtualDub with DeShaker plugin, and all i can say is Oh My God !!
    Its fantastic!!!!
Seriously. Its soooo much quicker than AE, with much better results. The help page explains what to fiddle with, and within a few minutes i was rolling out stabilized clips.

AND it was working on the originals, and saving as Uncompressed. Another time consuming step gone.

Should i bother to tell Adobe, again, what wonderful solutions are possible, and ‘out there’. Ha.

    THanks guys,
thats some really good information there. Exactly what i needed to hear.
I like the idea of finishing it all off in AE, so i only have a link in PP… So i’ll be looking into proxies…

You’ve really helped me move in the right direction.
    Thanks.

If anyone can recommend a stabilization program ???

I am not happy with Warp Stabilizer results – the footage is very ‘soft’ compared with the original.
Worth the wait? i dont think so.

UPDATE: i’ve opened a clip in PP, did Replace With AE Comp, in AE i’ve applied WarpStabilizer, saved and closed AE, and back in PP sent it off to MediaEncoder (as uncompressed).

    Is this the only way?

Does anyone know of a program dedicated just to stabilization that i can que up a few files?

    Thanks.

THanks for the feedback. However i am getting really fed up with AE. Its just crashed and made a right mess of things AGAIN.
(my pc is new and high spec, and only Win7 and CS5 on it)

Should i be cursing Adobe, or After Effects, or Warp Stabilizer ?

When i prerendered it finished after 3 hours (!) but the resulting file had a different aspect ration to the original. (Annoying!!!!)

Oddly it would not play back in realtime, even after doing the Replace With New (sorry dont remember the exact terminology).

And when i tried to save and close, to return to PP (using dynamic link) Everything crashed.

So i’m beginning to think Either Dynamic Link or Warp Stabilizer is buggy and should be avoided.

Thanks for the viewing. It was useful to see such a well put together vid.

I am still looking for some more examples…

  • What exactly increased in size, the file name that is.
I’ve been using Warp Stabilizer a lot lately and i’ve not seen any increase in project size. (CS55)

But i was using uncompressed originals, that might be a clue.
    Whats your original media?

    (the edit button is missing!)

UPDATE: I gave up with Uncompressed MS AVI, and am now using Microsoft AVI, Preset:custom
720×576, 25fps, Lower Q=100, NO CODEC, Aspect Pal Wide (1.4),
    48kHz stereo.

The result? It looks like crap and its too thin
(and file size is now humongous!)

I’m about to give up with Adobe !!!

(oh i see, after i press reply, i can access the edit button – my bad!)

MORE INFO: when i open the Uncompressed file in PPro i see in properties the Aspect Ratio is 1.0, not the 1.4 i chose.

Is this a bug in AME, why is it ignoring my Aspect Ratio setting?
