Decompressing Old Tape
Hi, i’m trying to use AME to decompress some video form an old Sony Camcorder.
(if i understood correctly, this will really help with editing, applying effects, system responce, rendering speed, etc)Original: DV Type 1, Pal, 720×576, 25fps, lower, 48kHz stereo.
Output: Uncompressed Microsoft AVI, Custom…
720×575, 25fps, progressive q=100, 48kHz stereo. Aspect Pal Wide.So is this the best way forward ?
My attemps to edit the original ended with my pc getting slower and slower to the point of give-up!Any advise or tips please. ?!?!?!
PS i found the answer to my original question elsewhere in this marvelous website.

EDIT: something is still wrong. Its looks great in AME Output, but the resulting file is letterboxed. That is, it has black bands across top and bottom.
What am i missing?

MORE INFO: when i open the Uncompressed file in PPro i see in properties the Aspect Ratio is 1.0, not the 1.4 i chose.
Is this a bug in AME, why is it ignoring my Aspect Ratio setting?

UPDATE: I gave up with Uncompressed MS AVI, and am now using Microsoft AVI, Preset:custom
720×576, 25fps, Lower Q=100, NO CODEC, Aspect Pal Wide (1.4),
48kHz stereo.The result? It looks like crap and its too thin
(and file size is now humongous!)I’m about to give up with Adobe !!!

So i went back to Uncompressed MS AVI, and after much faffin about, i got it work.
So thanks anyways…
