Have you tried selecting the keyframes from the beginning, copy and paste them at the end, then select just the end keyframes, right click on them, Keyframe Assistant > Time-reverse Keyframes.

Andrew Kramer did a tutorial on creating a Ring (similar to the one used by TNT) in which he creates a ring shape that pretty much has the web 2.0 look you are going for. You may not use the particle effects that he goes over, but it might be worth watching just so you can see how you can create the shape using only masks and shape layers.

Only possible if you create a separate menu for each button. The menus would all look the same of course, except for the chosen picture. You would then have to create pseudo buttons with auto-activate turned on for the navigation, so that when you navigate down from button one, it auto-activates the next menu which displays the image for button 2. It’s a very complicated setup and causes problems with software dvd players (mouse-over does not cause auto-activate of next button). Also, any audio or motion you have for the menu will start over each time a button is highlighted. Usually people avoid this type of menu setup, but I have seen it on professional discs (Seinfeld TV Show DVD)

Hmm, one sure way to do it is rotoscope out the person for the frames in which the morph will occur, precompose it, and apply the reshape to the precomp.

I created a cube for our Texture Pack promo video seen here:

You will see the cube at 26 seconds into the video. You will notice I “slid” a texture onto the cube and spun it around, creating an interesting effect. This was done simply by using 4 surfaces, aligned in 3D space in AE, then parenting them to a null object (which was centered in the cube) for placement and rotation. The surfaces were precomps, and inside the precomps is where I slid the texture on.

The text becomes part of the background, so yes, it does need to be rendered.
If you don’t want it to be rendered, it has to be a button highlight, and then you are limited to 2-bit quality.

Have you tried rendering the motion menu by going to File>Render>Motion Menu?

I have used both and I also choose Encore for the following reasons:
1. Far superior integration with Adobe Photoshop for customizing buttons and menus
2. Much easier way of creating scene selection menus with animated buttons, especially when using the Chapter Index feature.
3. Blu-ray support with Pop-up Menus
4. Has a more logical way of doing things that is consistent with other Adobe Applications and the way I would expect them to be done.
5. Works so well that I built a business around using the application. My motion menu template products also work with DVD Studio Pro and other authoring applications, but I recommend using Encore.Jon Geddes

Create a light and use the expression from this guide for the intensity of the light:

You will need to make a small modification to the expression. At the very end, instead of random(0,100), you might want to change that to random(30,100). Play around with it and see. This will effect how dark the light goes when it flickers. You may also want to tweak some of the other parameters to make it look more natural.
