Its an Asus laptop F3JC. I had to get it from the Asus notebook downloads.

nVidia one’s i think worked generally but ended up having CS4 prob’s.

So I rolled back 1st, then installed the downloaded last drivers from Asus.

Instead of going out to Encore Direct, use AME to export the Encore file. If you are going to DVD you only need MPEG-2 DVD. If you want BluRay use the AME settings for that (either MPEgG-2 or H.264).
Then bring that in to Encore. I think the Encore direct from PPro is only really good for smaller projects like TVCs or little Promo’s.

You could also be facing a situation where the harddrive you are exporting to is FAT32, which has a 4Gig files size limit. It sounds like you reach half way each time and it crashes. This might have something to do with it.
NTFS on PC is the file structure you need to get unlimited file size exports.

1. Are you running Vista 64? XP won’t see over 3 gig ram.
2. CS3 is not certified for 64 bit and only sees 3.2 ram max.
3. what memory mode are you running Premiere Pro in? Memory or Performance? – Memory would be best.
4. Change the Memory in Preferences>General

You will need to restart Premiere for it to take effect.

Open the Task Manager and force minimise the app it will cut back a heap of ram it’s using. Also having the caps lock on helps to preserve some ram for exporting.

Do all these things and you should be ok. Unless you have a massive JPEG image in the project.

I had some prob’s with this issue myself. I found that an update (rollback I think) saw me download the laptop manufacturers last supported video driver (nVidia 7300). It seems to have fixed the issue.

Hi Richard,
If you have the audio running the way you like it with filters running and it’s all good in the TL then I suggest you export the Audio out as a seperate uncompressed WAV file. Check it for the prob’s you were facing. If they aren’t there then use this WAV. Or put the wav back into the project and make another Seq. Nest (add a seq to another like it’s a clip) the video only from the edit and use the WAV as your MIX.
Check the sync.
Add a 2 sec black video at the top and tail (before 1st frame of edit and after last frame of edit) so the DVD is loading and buffering itself in the blank section/s.
Let us know how that works.
If there is a targeted problem export each audio track seperately by muting all other tracks at a time. Bring them back and then apply the necessary filter for the problem spot by cutting around that spot this way the filter will only work on the section that you cut around. Reexport.
Audio doesn’t take anywhere near as much time to export as Vision so I usually export the Video as m2v – no imbedded audio and then export the audio as either WAV for Encore or as mpa from PPr for Encore. I think the filters are creating issues with the algorithms for the mpa/ac3 encode.
PS: You can use the MPG file and just remove the audio part of it in the authoring timeline and replace that with your final mix WAV or mpa file.

Hi Josh. I hear your dissapointments. This first version of CS4 had to pull some features and will be releasing the update bringing them back AAF – and adding some more OMF, FCP XML import. The update is very close. Adobe have stated that they felt they should pull the bits that worked on most workstations and bring them back in the first update. They knew it would take a hit. Red support is in Last stage internal beta before it goes to public beta very soon.
My experiences with CS4 has been mixed, but overall I start working on an edit in CS3 and find myself wanting the little subtle workflow updates from CS4. I feel it’s better for me and I can’t wait for the update.

I’m not saying that they don’t use the same software. Matrox AXIO is only for Premiere Pro. AJA is for Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. Then there are Avid (which has it’s own hardware solutions) and is the most popular system in Big Prod Houses. A video file is a video file. Hardware is available for many softwares.
At the end of the day you need to put your video onto Betacam. Nobody knows what you cut it on or even care. If you had the right hardware you can use Premiere to go to Betacam. Black Magic and Matrox AXIO are the two most popular Full HD Hardware for Premiere Pro.

Betacam is a Professional Broadcast Quality Format. It uses a Serial connection and not FW. It has component output/input via SDI so I think you’re outta luck with your software based system. Betacam decks are extremely expensive and most prod co’s don’t own one. Hiring is expensive too, then you need the Hardware to talk to it (AJA, Black Magic, Matrox AXIO to name a few).
If I need to do that I go to a Big Post House that charges to put a Video file from a HDD out to the Betacam maching. It’s not cheap so be aware it will cost you $$$ no matter how you transfer.
I usually export my video to Uncompressed AVI or QT Animation codec. These two digital formats are lossless. QT Animation can be smaller in data size than Uncmopressed AVI. Ask the Post House what they prefer. There systems will be setup for RT playback and optimized for certain file codecs.

In case you were wondering I am working with version CS3 for AE, Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, etc.

AE does do this ramping with audio and video (as individual media or contained video/audio files). Premiere is under no obligation to intergrate the audio remapping – Adobe have it all in AE and have for years.
FCP doesn’t work with the audio of their Variable speed time remapping either. Soundbooth I’m not sure, Audition can have the speeding up and down ramping you want it’s in one of the plugins – used it years ago. But it’s not as ‘frame’ accurate as AE.

AE is your fastest most accurate solution. If you want to sample the audio while scrubbing the timeline hold down the Ctrl Key (PC) or the Apple Key (mac).
