  • Hi Jim,

Thanks for the thorough response. I doubt very much that we have the same configurations. I’m on a G4 laptop using Iomega external HDs. It’s intermittant for me as well, and several other CC users have reported the problem, including expert Shane Ross, who also hasn’t been able to figure out why it’s happening.

I too am working around it.

    THanks,

    -Jonathan

It happens on every HD. Can you take me through the trash preferences routine, I don’t know about that.

IT’s the standard P2 format from the HVX200. Drive is os extended. Lots of pros are having this problem, even Shane Ross a few times. It must be a bug.

  • I am having the same problem and would really appreciate some input. I suspect it’s a bug that hasn’t been resolved yet, but it’s really impacting my workflow.

Also, I’ve always done finder copies, which even the Panasonic website says is fine, despite what the Panasonic tech told you. P2 is still so new, there are so many different workflows possible. I’ve decided to standardize on the workflow recommended by Shane Ross.

I have a question. I was told that with FCP 6, I could read P2 files natively, but in the L&T window, I still have to import them into a Quicktime compatible format. Since I have a Powerbook, not Intel, Mac, I can’t use Calibrated’s product. So, does anyone have a simple workflow how to they can send me? For example, Shane says to have one drive for the files, another drive for the Quicktime converted files, which he calls the media drive. Is that the best way to do this? Also, do those transferred quicktime files double the date space?

    Thanks,

    -Jonathan
