October 8, 2018 at 12:48 pm in reply to: Bake Voronoi Fracture – for render on RebusFarmHI there,
I’m sure you solved this long ago, but just to add to this conversation, for anyone else who has the same problem.
In terms of baking complex animations in c4d, I highly recommend the plug-in NitroBake.
You can find it here, and it’s WELL worth the nominal cost.https://nitro4d.com/product/nitrobake2/
It’s saved me lots of time in the past, and in terms of rending to Rebus Farm, it’s allowed me to send things there too that are otherwise unsupported.
Hope that helps

Hi guys,
No one seems to be aware that Borisfx makes a very, very good lens flare plug-in as a separate “unit” available independently of their larger packages for Motion/FCP.
https://www.borisfx.com/units/lens_flare.php
It is very good, with loads of options, including “stripe” which emulates that anamorphic (Star Trek) look. With some playing around, it gives very nice results… not as robust as VideoCopilot’s Optical Flares, but is the very best option for Motion/FCP users.

Hi guys,
Never mind. Figured it out…. I had a big, white plane behind everything, that I had made too big…. it must have confused things… I got rid of it, and my cast shadows are back. Yah!

Hi there,
Back in August you were having problems in Motion on an Intel Mac, where it wasn’t providing the General Preference to direct Motion to Third Party plug-ins…
Well, I’ve just got a new Mac Book Pro, and just installed Final Cut 6 with Motion 3 and viola, same problem.
There is no option to direct Motion to my Third Party plugs…
Did you find a solution!!! If so, help!!
Thanks

Digieffects Delirium Plug-in package contains an effect called Thermograph, which is similar to what you might be after, and though a harder edged effect than in the Jay Z vid, it actually looks more like real thermal images visuals.

Having said that Digieffects plug ins are made for After Effects rather than being native to Motion so either run very slowly or not at all.
Good luck

July 13, 2006 at 7:43 pm in reply to: How do I import P2 to FCP without including the audio tracks?Okay… strange… I just tested that transfer again, as I was second guessing myself… and this time, with that same NEW cable, I’m back to about 6 minutes again… I checked the size of the data in each of the test transfer folders, and they are all the 1 GB in size… including the ones that only took 75 seconds to transfer to moments ago…
I don’t get it? Roddy, is this fluxuation in USB 2.0 speed normal?
Sorry for the potential misinformation. Still make sure you’ve got a good cable…!

July 13, 2006 at 7:35 pm in reply to: How do I import P2 to FCP without including the audio tracks? In terms of your USB transfer woes… here’s a simple tip.
Since we’re stuck with USB 2.0 (and not our beloved Firewire) with the P2 Store Drive, make sure you have REALLY good qualilty USB 2.0 cable.
I was also rather appalled at how long it was taking me to transfer from the P2 Store Drive to my Mac Book Pro (just tests) and with an older (but 2.0 labelled) USB cable.
It took me 6:24 minutes to transfer about 1 GB of data!I just bought a very good, new USB 2.0 cable and copying the very same 1GB of data took me only 58 seconds to copy! Amazing, hard to beleive, but absolutely true!
I have read that there are USB 2.0 labelled cables out there that are not truly 2.0… poorly sheilded or actually USB 1.1’s labelled dishonestly…
Anyway, get yourself a really, really good quality USB 2.0 cable, and I hope you get the same results I did.

Roddy, my friend… THAT WAS IT!!! I feel pretty silly for not figuring that one out…. oh well, thank you very much for being my “common sense”
All the best, and thank you Creative Cow for helping me find my answer.
Happy shooting and editing fellow P2 pioneers.
