  • P2 Store Drive – Won’t Format???

    Hi all,

Just getting going with this new equip – have solved mystery after mystery, including the whole “switching” mode to get it to mount on my Mac Book Pro… BUT… I cannot for the life of me, figure out what I am doing wrong when I attempt to clear off the P2 Store Drive… to Format it…. it just doesn’t work for me.

If I attempt to Format it with a P2 Card in the Drive, I just get all the front LEDs flashing Green for ever and ever… if I attempt it without a P2 Card in there, I get an Error… E2 and E3 LEDs flashing Orange on top.

Formatting the P2 Cards in there works just fine.

Just to explain my procedure: I stick a pen tip into the HDD hole for a few seconds, then I quickly press START (inside the 2 second warning)…. then I get what I’ve described above…

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with my P2 Store Drive.

    Advice very welcome!!

When sticking your pen in the recessed button, do you wait for the flashing orange lights before pressing start? Also I think you have to disconnect the USB before you can format.

    Thanks for you note Roddy.

When I press a pen into the HDD hole… I don’t get anything happening at all… (it is not connected via USB, but is sitting by itself)
So, when I then press START, I get the error, or I get everything flashing, if a P2 Card is in there.

Do you think I’ve got a hardware fault?

If the ballpoint is too thick it sometimes does not work, try a paper clip and a gentle press the Copy Status lights should flash orange along with the HDD light, remove paper clip and press start.

    Sorry I can’t help further.

Roddy, my friend… THAT WAS IT!!! I feel pretty silly for not figuring that one out…. oh well, thank you very much for being my “common sense”

All the best, and thank you Creative Cow for helping me find my answer.

Happy shooting and editing fellow P2 pioneers.
