So you may want to try 64bit. You can install both versions at the same time I believe. Also not to encourage you to return the computer but they did just release the new ivy bridge processor and that combined with the new motherboards are supposed to give a boost to encoding like a champ. Make sure you video card driver is updated to newest from site. Not sure on this but seems nvidia may be doing better these days with supporting newer technology. Maybe that’s just benefiting Adobe Premier, not sure…

It’s crazy jumping between editors at how the jargon changes. It looks like I’m using the wrong words to describe what I want to do.
To better explain my second question I’m trying to take a region selected in the trimmer window and have it replace a clip/event on the timeline.
Seems Vegas is a very mouse clicky, dragy droppy as compared to other editors like Premier where you can do alot of clip editing in the trimmer window before dropping it into the timeline. I see where Premier and FCP X have taken some ideas from Vegas with their new updates.

I think the HV20 is 1920×1080 and the A1 is 1440×1080 (from memory.)
The black lines were caused by me not understanding proper workflow. I was rendering to cineform and that didn’t make sense. I’m now rendering from Vegas to mpeg2 and that means I don’t need to recompress in DVDA. Everything is looking good, testing on PS3 now.

I’m probably just not clear on the strategy here. So the native blu-ray format is mpeg2/avchd? So then I can create my menu in DVDA and when I dump the video it will not need to recompress?
I’m I understanding that correctly?

Let me also say that an issue I’m having is that I’m trying to keep everything interlaced all the way to the blu-ray disc. I’m exporting from Vegas at 1920×1080 and keeping those settings in the burn process in DVDA. When I view the video using PowerDVD9 on the PC I see black lines running through the footage. The menu looks and functions great.

What about the choice to run interlace or progressive? I would assume if I shot in 60i I can keep it interlaced all the way throught the workflow to the DVD. If so I would assume I would want 1080i format (1920x1080i?)
Conversly if I wanted to switch from 60i to 30p or even 24p at what step would it be best to switch to progressive? These are the choices:
1. Initial Capture (to Cineform.)
2. Through the project settings in Vegas.
3. Upon render.
4. When encoding to blu-ray-Jonathan
