Preview lacking
Posted by Allan Boes on May 11, 2012 at 3:24 pmHI 🙂
Just bought a new computerIntel i7-980 3,3 GHz processor
Sabertooth X58 Motherboard
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Geforce GTX 570 phantom 3 graphics cardBut when I have only 2 tracks(no effects, but on top of eachother, and one set to screen) my preview window lacks when i playback. Should’t I be able to through a little more at my computer before it lacks?
Or do I need to set something up?
The preview mode is set for auto.

May 11, 2012 at 6:17 pmSo you may want to try 64bit. You can install both versions at the same time I believe. Also not to encourage you to return the computer but they did just release the new ivy bridge processor and that combined with the new motherboards are supposed to give a boost to encoding like a champ. Make sure you video card driver is updated to newest from site. Not sure on this but seems nvidia may be doing better these days with supporting newer technology. Maybe that’s just benefiting Adobe Premier, not sure…

May 12, 2012 at 1:54 amI have installed drivers for my video card and the 64 bit version of vegas, but has the same problem, Still lacking?
So I need a little more help.
When I look at my preferences my preview device is set to windows Graphics card, shouldn’t it be my Nvidia? But I can’t choose it.
Here a some pic of my preferences

May 12, 2012 at 2:12 amJust tried with some other video clips, they play fine.
The one I started with using was a wma. file from the default windows video example folder, and it appers that vegas dont like that.

May 12, 2012 at 3:11 pmIn your Preview Device Preferences, try unchecking Scale output to fit display. This is causing Vegas Pro to resize every frame before displaying it which takes some resources to do and may decrease your frame rates.

May 12, 2012 at 8:52 pmHey John
I just tried that, but its still lacking, and It’s really frustrating to have bought a brand new computer, with lots of house power, and not be able to use it 🙁
Could I be a codec or something like that i’m missing???

No, a missing codec would cause the video not to display at all.
What is your source video? Where is it from? What are it’s attributes?

May 13, 2012 at 8:06 pmMy project right now where its lacking is 2 tracks with png seq. one track set to source alpha and the other to screen. No effects or transions at all.
The Image seq. is made in Daz studio and is like my project 1920×1080 pixels.I’ve also tried with video clips(wma,mp4 and divx witch don’t work at all) with same lacking problem.
I’m no a computer gig at all, but shouldn’t my computer run this smoothly with my specifications?
