Thats pretty funny. I work for the PD, and my boss has done mock police stuff many times. Although, yeah most people can recognise that it is a video shoot. Luckily, I just found out that my boss has insurance, so I’m not going to worry about that now, phew. Thanks for the story, we are actually going to soon be working on a video for a traffic stop scenario too, hopefully there won’t be anybody calling the police on us! 🙂

One other quick question. Upon my search for film commission in long beach, I see that insurance is needed for getting a permit? Now, I’m thinking this is for a special event or a big movie set? My production, we’re just talking a video camera and 1 actor and a van. Is this insurance going to be necessary?

How, generally do you put that into written form? Do you have a breakdown of all the prices and then somewhere specify the payments, when and how much. Just trying to see how pros do it. This is my first time, so any advice helps. And, also, I know that the first payment is up front, the last is on delivery of final product, what do you usually say is the milestone where they make the middle payment? Thanks!

I’m so sorry I didn’t get back to thank you guys for your advice earlier. Thank you thank you. I will search google and try and contact the film commission here in Long Beach. Thanks you!

Hmmm…thanks for those, I will check them out. Seems to me, that more gradient control should be something native to After Effects, maybe I’ll reccommend it, but I would be surprised if I were the first to do so. Thanks for the plugins though, I appreciate it.

February 3, 2006 at 1:33 am in reply to: Freelancer moving into my own small businessThank you for stressing that, keeping track of that stuff is something I have been trying to be better about , especially since last year I had quite the time when taxes came around. Thank you for your advice, I will see if I can pick that book up somewhere and I already have an accountant that I just need to give a call. Thanks again, I really really appreciate your help as I am quite scared and clueless at the moment.

February 2, 2006 at 5:06 pm in reply to: Freelancer moving into my own small businessWow, thanks for the suggestions. I think that getting an accountant is going to be one of my first steps. Now, is it easy to open up a business account, say at wells fargo, or wherever I already have a personal account? And should I do that? Thanks again!

Aaaaah, I guess I kinda knew that, but never realised it. Thanks for clearing that up. I’m sure others have suggested it before, but I think that things would be a heck of a lot better if they did lock spatial and temporal curves together like 3d apps. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Seth, your way is much easier. I didn’t even know you could animate brush strokes like that. Learn something everyday, thank you!
