The -5000 error is an OS-level permissions error. This is actually one of the few cases where repairing disk permissions with Disk Utility may actually solve the problem.

If repairing disk permissions does not solve the issue, try launching the software with a different user account that has administrator privileges. This will allow you to determine if it is a system-wide error or unique to a particular user account.

Does the Isilon support AFP? If so, switch to that.

EditShare requires DAVE for SMB shares with Media Composer. I have not seen a list of what DAVE does for EditShare’s product or what problems will exist if DAVE is not used. The way it was explained to me is that Apple’s implementation of SMB is subject to breakage and performance issues. DAVE is more stable and reliable than Apple’s SMB.

EditShare is now qualifying using AFP without DAVE, so that may be the cheaper option if you can use AFP.

Have you performed any Find operations in the clip list? If there are any characters in the Find function for the clip list, then the number of clips you will see is limited to whatever matches the find criteria. I have heard of problems similar to yours in the past, and the solution was to clear the find criteria.

Avid audio (Pro Tools) recommends Windows users use MacDrive for accessing HFS+ volumes. You may want to open a ticket with Avid video about what you are seeing. I haven’t tried this in a video workflow (MC or Symphony).

If you need to work on your school project at home, then open it up on the school’s system again, you will need to save a copy of your session from your home system as v9 (.ptf). There are features in v10 (currently shipping) that are incompatible with v9 and earlier, plus a v10 file (.ptx) will not open with v9 or earlier.

Hello,

I am experiencing this same problem. I am using an SRW-5500. The video is consistently two seconds and eleven frames late on the tape. Unfortunately, the ‘as&in’ menu setting does not appear to exist on the SRW-5500. If it does, I cannot find it in the manual.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with the SRW-5500? Any ideas on how to correct it? I have tried having the SRW-5500 reference its input (no difference), and have the SRW-5500 reference its input with our FCP station (AJA Kona 3) freewheeling for reference (no difference).
