    thanks david

thats what i was wondering, if there was a smaller size quicktime flavor i could transcode to that would still be offline editable. I was thinking i could make the frame size smaller at the least and stay in hdv, or if there were any other suggestions as offline codec settings.

otherwise i guess we could live with 100gb of footage for the 8 hours or whatever, but i was hoping to have some really low rez stuff that is easier for my producer to have on her laptop and just edit for content and translate from the spanish…

does that make sense? it seems like its worth doing, but it doesnt sound like there are many options that are smaller and still editable

thanks for the links, its good stuff, but most of it i know already

it keys ok on all the other interviews shot with the same camera on the same green screen.

somehow, the dark gray sweatshirt this guy is wearing is super noisey after applying the key.

would anyone have a second to have a look? thanks

thanks dave, but the thing is i still get the horrible noise in the blacks on the movie i output for this troubleshoot, which was quicktime PNG transcoded from the HDV sources (i know, not ideal. i got brought in to amimate some stuff around it. the keying, the client assumed, would be the easy part)

could the 30-trial or win 7 be cause the automatic crash anytime i try to render unrendered footage?

i like some of the edit/trim tools, but i am much more comfortable with fcp’s very tweakable sequence settings… what gives?!

    hey thanks

not sure on windows how to assign RAM

my thought with the MPEG was thinking maybe it was a default codec for rendering the timeline to playback. right now when i render sequence just for playback it crashes

i am editing a bunch of medium sized (~800×600) jpegs, i wouldnt think it would be a problem, and am used to fcp, but on this machine, running as CS4 trial, its crashy and buggy as hell

thanks so much… would love this to run smoothly

no no no, i was using this as a basic test for working in linear color space. Ive been an AE guy for a while, i’m not some tumbleweed ‘DSLR’ guy making my first post on the cow about my first video.

    https://prolost.com/blog/2005/1/26/color-correction-in-linear-vs-gamma-corrected-space.html

they say the reason for color correcting in linear space is it is more realistic and photographic. add modes are supposed to be more photographic and whites are supposed to stay white. obviously h.264 is what it is, but theres no reason to keep reintroducing h.264 math on it.

i thought linear work flows were all the rage these days, or dont you guys go to prolost etc.

if anyone would like to add something helpful, im more than all ears

linear in terms of color management, gamma

thanks dave, but it sounds like this is something you havent dealt with a ton. i have kept hearing it suggested, but just having some troubles knowing when to get out of working in linear gamma

if anyone has anything to add on the above thread, it would be most helpful

    thanks

haha, yeah AE is horrible to edit with

using FCP to edit, and spitting out a prores from there. i could use the scripts to export the xml

my main issue is understanding the linear concept.

ive seen a tutorial where a guy goes to linear/hd 709. and i tried it here and it looks ok, but what has to happen after in terms of settings.

i dont understand what settings i need in the output dialog, or if none, in quicktime pro for encoding h264 to keep everything looking right.

right now i out put a test, prores that looks ok, but when i encode a h264 using quicktime pro, the levels go brighter and it looks worse

    thanks so much

    something like this

trying spline wrap, but not sure if thats the best way. looking for some way to bend and deform the spline, almost like switching smoothly the object on a mograph cloner, but with splines
