This is a show that will bounce around between editors and assistants a bit. I was just wondering if there was something i was missing and could adjust to get realtime playback while working.

It was worth a try…render it is.

    thanks for your help,

thanks. i’m gonna look into this for sure. Another problem I just learned is that the HD downconvert is for SDI only..? meh.

    Thanks so very much!

I have a quick question. Your saying that the downconvert on the Studio Decklink is lousy? or just the intensity?

I’m starting to think I should wait on NAB (if I can) to see what else comes down the pipe.

    thanks again.

Thanks so much!! just a few more…

On the studio card, you said:

“working with HD one SDI port would output HD and the other would be SD”

Is that SDI only or does that work for the analog outs as well?

I’am also going to assume that the downconverting on the Studio is superior due to the hardware downconvert? What does the intensity do for downconvert if not hardware?

    also:

“This allows you to edit in the native format” But you essentially need to render? Not for monitor, but for final product.

    thanks again so much.

Thanks for the heads up Chris. That’s a major shame that the card does such a bad job at one of the very few things I need it to do more than anything else.

Also yeah, I’m not sure I get the format limitations on the intensity. I’ll start looking at price options for the Kona. it’s a bit steep.

    thanks for the honest advice

I think what Jerry is talking about is what the original poster is complaining about.

I think that snow leopard will start to address this issue.

With that said, I’ve had a suspicion for quite some time that FCS3 will be released hand in hand with SL as a full 64bit cocoa re-write.

Otherwise, it’s getting to the point that the hardware is surpassing the software to such a wasteful degree.

64 bit FCS + SL is a marriage made in heaven.
