First close-up of someone singing should be the lead singer, not the guitar player.

I totally agree with what everyone else said. Stick with one format. The difference between the HD and SD footage will be obvious.

Though the down-converted footage will be subject to the limitations of the DV format, it doesn’t mean that it will look the same as DV footage. Kind of like if you were to watch The Godfather on video…It doesn’t look like it was shot on VHS.

Wow, Craig. My current record for hibernating clients is 5 months…so yours have me beat by a good 60 days. Gives a whole new meaning to “Hurry up and wait,” doesn’t it?

You could also check out these tutorials:

    https://www.videocopilot.net/basic/ae_titles.html

That should go a long way toward showing you a very efficient technique for working with titles in 3d space and camera animation.

    Good luck!

    Watch Andrew Kramer’s tutorial here:

Pay special attention to the reverse motion tracking technique, as it is what allows the liquefy filter to stick seamlessly to the face.

Clamp the camera to a C-Stand arm and raise it to the ceiling…assuming, of course, that you have a C-Stand.

  • What kind of film look are you after? Damaged film is one thing, applying a “look”, as in color grading, is something else entirely.

And though I love 24p, it doesn’t look like film….It just looks less like video.

In a very dark room, use nothing but a backlight on the subject. If you need, or want, some detail in the background, try throwing a SMALL amount of light on it.

Use that in conjunction with John’s suggestion to crush the blacks and you should be alright.

Agreed….detail issue. Encountered the same thing with a Canon XH-A1.

I think this is the fifth time in two months that someone has asked how to replicate this effect. Hadley must be getting more hits from AE users than kite surfers. lol.
