Hi,
I have experienced the same problem. Hope Sony will fix it.
I started with a Windows-xp system and Vegas Movie Maker 8.0. It was a very stable program/system and I never had a hanging problems. It took a long time to render and the professional Vegas Pro program had some features that I wanted, so I updated to Pro Version and a new computer.
I bought a Gateway Quad computer (DX4710) with Windows Vista-64 to speed up the rendering (to use with my Vegas Pro 8.1c). Also had Vegas 8.0c for use with Vista-32. My camera is a Sony Camcorder that stores video on a memory stick. Each movie clip (8 to 10 seconds) creates a unique video file. This means that for a 30 minute video, there maybe 100 to 300 clips. When I try to import them into Vegas 8.1, the program would hang after about 40 clips (about 10 to 15 minutes of video). I couldn’t tell if it was a problem with Sony Vegas or Windows Vista-64 or the PC. I bought more memory (originally 6 gb) to exchange and/or add, it didn’t help. I also exchanged and added new hard drives, t didn’t help. Also reloaded Windows Vista-64 and Sony Vegas. Although the main use of the computer was for Vegas, no other programs gave any problems. I even created a dual boot system and installed Vista-32 (to use with Vegas 8.0) and Vista-64 (with Vegas 8.1). BOTH Hung in the same way.
Since Sony has now come out with Vegas Pro 9.0b, I upgraded to this level hopping they have fixed the problem in the new release (9.0b). I seems to work a little better, but still has the same hanging problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any word from Sony on this problem. It seems like many others have the same problem and maybe they will fix it in version 9.0c.
Thanks for any updates on the problem or suggestions.
