Oh, Timecode overlays with source timecode (and other metadata), center timeline on zoom in/out, multiple browser windows, a simple way to use alpha channels in proxy mode, better keyframe gui. Just off the top of my head. There are lots of things that need polish. I gave them until the last underwhelming update to make a semi-final decision for our office. I still use FCPX a lot for smaller personal projects, but for our “professional” work, we’ve settled on Premiere. They are consistently making solid improvements while I twiddle my thumbs waiting blindly on updates to FCPX. Like I said, though, I use it a lot. I just wish improving it were a bigger priority.

You can turn off skimming in the timeline and not the browser by clicking on the transform button on the lower left of the viewer display.

This just happened to me with one of my systems. It was stuck in Proxy mode, and no amount of clicking would change it. There was another feature on the timeline that didn’t work either but I can’t remember now what it was. I ended up fixing it by using Preference Manager to delete the prefs, and then deleting the app, rebooting, and reinstalling. I realize you’ve kind of done that already, but maybe try again? It was very perplexing, but I finally got it working again.

March 10, 2014 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Not tracking cursor between windows during skimmingI thought that was intentional. Sometimes I leave it in that mode to get a break from skimming sensory overload.

March 9, 2014 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Not tracking cursor between windows during skimmingDo you have your event viewer open? I keep mine open (even though it’s fairly useless) and that has cut down on a lot of the stuck focus issues for me. I often wonder if it’s related to using dual screens, and/or list views.

Can’t you just go into the Library package in the finder and do the same thing you did before. It’s a little more messy depending on how many events you use, but the structure is still there. You may have to grab the CurrentVersion.flexolibrary too. Not sure, but you could experiment.

[Lance Bachelder] “Yeah I don’t see any improvements in actual editing – other than performance “
Well, one big editing improvement for me was fixing multicam so you could detach audio and/or cut just video or audio onto a sequence. That’s huge if you use multicam. Of course, like with the library revamp, it’s hard to get really enthused when they just fix something that was poorly designed to begin with.
Now I hope they turn attention to rethinking the browser. I need multiple windows, or saved states, or at a bare minimum a back button. I spend way too much time browsing, and flipping views around.

Like I said, Keeping the Event Viewer open has minimized if not eliminated the problem. The only other solution that always worked for me was to click over into the event browser in an open space and deselect the clip completely. Then go back to the timeline.
