  • I can’t offer any advice on your first problem but for the issue of playback with 15 cameras…. have you tried changing the RT settings to help ease the playback congestion? You may have done this already but if not, just left to the sequence playhead is the RT tab: you might find that you are able to run all 15 by changing the settings to
    unlimited
    play base layer only
    PVQ: low
    PFR: low
    multiclip playback

*note: make sure you also have record to tape set to full quality or upon final edits switch settings back to dynamic before exporting or converting.

sorry if this doesn’t help or you’ve already taken these steps!
    Good Luck

  • Tom,
here are the specs from the original footage:
    Format
    XviD (3ivx), 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Mono, 44.100 kHz

    FPS: 30
    Data Rate: 3845.63 kbits/s

    normal size: 640 x 480 pixels
    actual size: same

    all standard def.

  • thanks guys. It was getting quite late and my brain was fried.

I’m on a Imac g5 2ghz with 2gb of ram. HardD has about 150 gb of open space.
    FCP is 5.1, quicktime is 7.5.5. OS X 10.4.11
The files I’m using are originally from flipvideo cams which come in as a avi. I’ve reformatted them into quicktime mpeg-4 files.
–you’ll have to excuse my ignorance but I’ll try and provide the next info to the best of my knowledge. If there are simple ways to explain where I access any missing info via the program please tell me.
    Playback settings:
RT: safe, vquality: low, frame rate: quarter.
    Memory and Cache
    App: 100% (1839 mb)
    Still: 100% (1689 mb)
    Thumbnail: disk 8192 k
    ram 1024 k

    Render Control
    Frame Rate: 100%
    Resolution: 100%

    I’m unclear of the codec.
As mentioned above the clips were from flipvideo cams and have been formatted into quicktime mpeg-4 files.

I hope this is a bit more thourough. I greatly apppreciate you taking the time to consider my problem. Again, if there is any info I am missing please inform me and I will to the best of my ability track it down.
    Thanks so much,
    John
