  • It’s the tilde (~) key that you’re after. As Mark said, hover your mouse over any panel and then press ~ to make it full screen.

[Michael Griggs] “”everything just changed in post””

..Apple just lost their pro customers?

This will probably be one of those things that will seem like second nature in a couple of weeks and we’ll wonder how we ever did it any other way.

BTW, I’ve just been cutting some interview rushes using the “Extract” tool and the job flew by. Much, much quicker that it used to be in FCP.

Making the move from FCP to PP myself and have hit this same issue.

From what I can find it’s unfortunately not going to work like FCP. I’m ripple editing with the cmd+mouse method and then pressing page down to take the CTI back to where it should be.

I had the same issue as you and was banging my keyboard like a loon whilst nothing happened… until I found out…

… if you select the tracks (click just outside the left of the time line to grey out the track) you want the next/last edit point page up/page down thing to work on it works. Simple as that. Actually very clever as you don’t have to have tracks that you’re not interested in selected so it won’t jump to their edit points.

Still an extra key stroke, but a small price to pay for not having to deal with FCPX.

    Any help?

  • Great post fella. Good to hear someone else is thinking exactly the same way I am.

“10/ keyboard command to razor all selected tracks at CTI position?”

cmd+shit+K is the default – one of the first things I looked up. You do know there’s a FCP keyboard layout included in 5.5? Edit – Keyboard Customization – Drop Down At the Top. I’m personally learning the PP defaults so that if I do any training (working through some very good lynda stuff at the moment) there’s no confusion.

Having a small niggle with CTI position after ripple editing at the moment but it’s minor and I’m an old dog struggling to learn new tricks.

I’m with you on this one completely sunny.

I’m making the switch after the FCPX debacle and this is one minor niggle that’s proving to be a bit frustrating. I’ve found that ripple editing with the cmd+mouse and then pressing page up does the same thing. Only one extra keystroke.

Beyond that I’m very impressed with PP. It’s come on a long way since I last looked at it a few years back and the integration with AE, PS and all is a dream.

If you work out how to do what we’re after, please report back.
