If you want a whole bunch of those moments, invest in Ripple Trainings basic course on FCP X. Their Media Management course is also outstanding and full of great ideas on managing media. That’s what I did when I first got FCP X and it really opened my eyes to the possibilities.
FCP X does things differently and you really need to re-learn as much as you need to learn but in the end, I felt that it was a better way of working. Your mileage, of course, may vary. But how to best use FCP X won’t be obvious because it won’t be intuitive to your existing way of thinking. You need to be shown and then you have that “Ahh Haa!” moment and it all falls into place.

September 5, 2016 at 5:40 am in reply to: Radeon 7950 – Modding a Windows version for Mac use?[Allan Speers] “2: How do I flash the rom?”
Modding a graphics card for Mac is not trivial. How do you flash the ROM indeed? You need to have a patched BIOS for your exact card or you need to patch your own. You should probably send the card to someone who does this sort of work. Most people who do it can also sell you the card. Try eBay. There are a lot of them on eBay already flashed.
[Allan Speers] “Can this be done with one Mac-Edition 795 and one Windows 7950? Â (using the Mac version for video & to boot, of course.)”
You can’t have two Radeon 7950’s in a Mac Pro because the Power Supply doesn’t support it. Each card needs two GPU power cables and the 2012 Mac Pro only has two GPU power cables total. The PSU simply can’t drive both cards.

This can’t be emphasized too much. This is not like round tripping between Ae and Pr. This is giving editors the ability to create custom plug-ins from projects in Motion that they use often. It’s another brilliant implementation. The fact that one person can learn Motion and then make an FX for others to use in FCP X without requiring Motion or knowledge of Motion is a huge timesaver.

Don’t you hate the fact that systems won’t show you the password as you are typing. It’s the most ridiculous thing. Every system should have a checkbox to show the password as you type to make sure that you are typing what you think you are typing.

September 4, 2016 at 5:01 am in reply to: My Build and Sony Vegas : What should my expectations be?There’s really not a whole lot that you can do with those graphics cards. Vegas Pro just doesn’t make good use of them. If Vegas Pro is pushing your CPU to 70% that’s pretty good (although you did pay for 100% of the CPU) 😉

You might consider getting FiLMiC Pro for your iPhone. It will record at a constant frame rate and give you much more control over frame rates, bit rates, resolution, etc. This is actually what they use to shoot some of those iPhone commercials. If you have an Apple Watch (like I do) you can use it as a remote viewfinder and start and stop the recording from your watch. So if you are recording tutorials of yourself this should give you complete remote control of your iPhone recordings.
As you have figured out, audio for video is usually 48K/16-bit. Always record your audio at that bit rate.
Finally, you should expect some drift over time regardless of what you do. Two separate recording devices have two separate clock crystals and unless they are gen-locked to an external world clock source, you will always get drift after some time. How much time depends on how different the crystals are but seeing drift after 10 – 15 minutes is normal.

September 4, 2016 at 4:33 am in reply to: My Build and Sony Vegas : What should my expectations be?First Vegas Pro will only work with 1 video card so it will only use 1 of your 2 x GTX 780 Ti. Second, Vegas Pro works best with AMD Graphics cards so your choice of NVIDIA is not the best for Vegas Pro. So someone with a Quad Core with an AMD Radeon R9 290x will probably get better performance.
Finally, What format are you rendering to? That makes a big difference. If you are using the MainConcept AVC encoder, it won’t work with your GTX 780 Ti at all and so you are encoding just with the CPU’s. Vegas Pro will only use 16 threads max and your CPU is only 2.0 GHz so once again 4.0 GHz Quad Core might actually give better CPU Only rendering performance. I find that Vegas Pro doesn’t make great use of multiple cores. I have a 12-Core and I have never seen it drive all of the cores hard.

September 4, 2016 at 4:17 am in reply to: Motion Tracking 4 video clips on a track in SVP 11 using Match Move/Corner Pinning?[Ansh Gujral] “From what I read here I should be using Corner Pinning or Match Move with ‘Nested Project’ in SVP and though I do get the concept I’m unable to comprehend it as a whole. So if someone could help me with step by step instructions that would be great.”
You will want to do this 4 times on 4 tracks. Once for each video you need to track. If you are referring to BCC Match Move there is an option to render only the move without the background. That is what you want to do for three of them. Then just place those nested projects on a track above the 4th one and all of them should appear to track together
