What’s going on is you didn’t keep your titles within the Title Safe area. You cannot print to the end of the video because TV standards do not allow this. There is an Action Safe area and a smaller Title Safe area and your titles need to be within the smaller box. TV Manufactures aren’t required to show anything outside the Action Safe area. Every TV is different. There are no guarantees. Welcome to the broadcast industry! ????

In Vegas Pro, above the Preview windows, turn on Safe Areas in the Overlay button. That will show you where your titles need to be within to guarantee that they will be seen on every TV.

Not many! ????

Let’s say the song is 3 minutes. To encode 3 minutes of video and audio into a 10mb file you would have to use a bitrate of about 500kb. That’s is absolutely anemic! There was a QuickTime 7 present in Vegas Pro at 500kb and the frame rate was 15fps and the resolution was 320×240. What he wants us not practical.

I’m not sure why he things the video has to be 10mb. Facebook accepts videos up to 1.75GB!

There is only one thing that determines file size and that’s bitrate. You must first determine how long the video is. Then depending on the length of the video you can do the math to determine the bitrate needed achieve the size that you want. There are many bitrate calculators available on the Internet to help you. (just search for “mp4 bitrate calculator”)

Quality is determined by frame size and frame rate for a given bitrate. You might want to render to 1280×720-24p or even 960×540-24p if you need bit more quality. Most people using Facebook are going to be watching on a smartphone so the video doesn’t need to be a very large resolution to look good.

Finally use the MainConcept AVC encoder and make the Average Bitrate equal to the bitrate that you calculated with a bitrate calculator. Then use the Two Pass option to get the highest quality from that bitrate.

It’s easier for me to just save a version that works with Vegas Pro 13 for you. You can delete the other one.

Use this version instead: Convert59to29Media-V13.cs

Which is exactly what I need! You guys really don’t think there is a way to apply this to the entire timeline? I’m starting to think there might not be now actually because the 59 frame clips would have to be 0.500 and the clips that are already 29 frames are set to 1.000, so I have to set it to one or the other, the program probably won’t know which ones are which.”

You can easily do this with a Script so I wrote one for you that you can download from my web site here: Convert59to29Media.cs

To use it, make a folder called: Vegas Script Menu in your Documents folder (if you don’t already have one) and place it in there and then restart Vegas Pro. Then in Vegas Pro look under the menu item Tools | Scripting and you should see it listed. Select it and it will convert all of the 59.94 fps timeline clips to use an Undersample Rate of 0.5 and it will also Disable Resample on those events.

The script is designed to work in MAGIX Vegas Pro 14.0. You will have to modify it to work with Sony Vegas Pro 13.0 and earlier.

According to this Apple Communities article it should work: How to Install FC7 in Mavericks…No longer support PowerPC error

If you want to try using a virtual machine, you don’t need to buy Parallels. You can use the free VirtualBox which I use every day on my MacBook Pro. It supports OS X from Snow Leopard forward.

Of course following Shane’s advice and creating a second partition for Snow Leopard is what I did to maintain compatibility with a old copy of FCP Studio that I still use for DVD Studio Pro (which has quirks on newer OS versions).

Usually when you set the Preview to Best (Full) it will show you exactly what will be rendered. If that shows the problem, then start disabling FX and crops, etc. to see what might be causing it.

You cannot change the frame rate of a clip! It is what it is. There is either 59.94 frames for every second of video in the clip or there is 29.97 frames for every second of video in the clip. You can’t change this. If there was some way to lie to Vegas Pro about the frame rate (which there isn’t) all it would do is play the video at 1/2 speed because it would be playing 59.94 frames at the speed of 29.97 which would take twice as long and be twice as slow (i.e., 1/2 speed). So you don’t want to mess with the frame rate. That has already been established when you shoot the footage.

All you can do now is what Ole has suggested. Disable Resample on the clips that are 59.94 so that Vegas Pro does not blend the frames and make them blurry. If you are seeing blurry frames, it means that you don’t have resample disabled. Disabling resample will drop frames on playback to make 59.94 fps match 29.97 fps which is exactly what you want to happen.
