Yea the behavior changed with version 8.0. What you need to do is either turn on Ignore Event Grouping (Ctrl+Shift+U) (not sure if that is available in the Movie Studio version) or just press the U key to ungroup the video and audio. You can select both events and press G to group them again later.

Wow Tom, that was like magic! There was one more step… I had to go into the Advanced properties and when I did, it was set up for 7.1 Surround for some reason (never was like this before). I set it back to Desktop Stereo and the errors went away. Thanks a lot!
I find it odd that this driver doesn’t show up in Windows as a sound driver yet my audio applications are picking it up. Also, I had SONAR set up to use the ASIO drivers on my M-Audio FW-410 and after doing the reset you suggested, SONAR was using the Adobe Default Sound Driver exclusively! I had to change the configuration back to use the M-Audio FW-410 ASIO driver again. Audio drivers don’t normally act this way so it apparently is somehow still taking over my PC but at least it’s not complaining. Very strange behavior.

OK, my bad. When you said Blu-ray I automatically assumed you were using DVD Architect. (sorry). I followed your steps and got the same problem. Looks like a definite bug in Vegas 8.0c. I would report it to Sony.

I would tell them they have 30 seconds and that’s it (or 45 or whatever). There is no way to do this without setting time limits on the sponsor.

Works for me. Try typing the path in manually although it really should work as you described. Maybe there isn’t enough space in the location you pointed to? (a 25GB Blu-ray project may need 50GB+ to prepare) I’m just guessing here because it works for me.

You could definitely write a script to do this but you would need to know how to program in JavaScript, VB, or C#. You would also have to import the music at the project tempo in order for the script to be able to calculate where the beats are. Then you would just program in whatever changes you are making manually.

Agreed, I think the progressive setting is what’s causing the softness because it blends fields. I use the standard DVD Architect NTSC DVD Widescreen video stream template and my HDV footage from my Sony Z1 looks spectacular on regular DVD’s.

You can set the End Action of the first file to play the second file so that they play continuously. This will not allow you to navigate backwards across that End Action but it will allow you to navigate forward across it.

Vegas will smart render MPEG-2. That is to say, if you place both files on the timeline and don’t change anything and you render with the same properties, Vegas will simply copy the two files into a third one with no loss of quality. The trick is rendering to the exact same properties which could be tricky with MPEG files from a DVD camcorder.
