No, the color information simply isn’t there. Your best bet is to make the video black and white and next time, monitor through the LCD on the camera which would have showed you that night-shot was on.

The color selection box is right next to the font size which is right next to the font name. Perhaps you need to expand your window out a bit. (hint) double-clicking on the FX window title bar will snap any Sony FX to it’s full size.

Where did you get the video from? What codec does it use? It sounds like the codec is not compatible with Vegas. DivX and Xvid are two that have this problem.

If you are happy with the quality of your camera… then that’s all that matters. That’s why the come in all shapes and sizes and price points. 😉

Assuming that Vegas Pro can read the AVC files produced by the Sony HDR-XR500 the only issues you will have are white balance and low light noise. If these are outdoor shots it should look great. Indoors I’m betting the FX1 has better low light capability.

Go to the Placement tab and select Center Left (or anything except Free Form). If you need to reposition the text use Pan/Crop. It’s the Free Form setting that’s making the text move.

What do you mean you can see pixels in the footage? Did you zoom in a lot with Vegas? What were your project settings? What were your render settings? Sony PD150 footage should look great on DVD.

This works fine for me in Vegas Pro 9.0. Perhaps it’s the render template that you are using. Try a different one. Also try adding the pitch shift at the track level and see if that works. If it does, I would think something is going wrong in the render.
BTW, there are 100 cents in a semitone. So semitone = 3 Cents = 100 is really the same as semitone = 4. You might try semitone 4 instead and see if it makes a difference but it’s probably the render template.

In order to Pan/Crop a whole track you would have to save that track as a project and then bring it back into Vegas Pro as a nested project and Pan/Crop the single event that it creates. Otherwise there is no way to Pan/Crop at the track level.

Did you change the frame rate at all? Video shot at 60i will tend to strobe when panned to quickly if rendered to 24p. Otherwise I can’t think of what it might be.
