I took the liberty of expanding on Dave Garrett’s tutorial here:

“I am aware of the chapter playlist feature not working with blu-ray discs, but it doesn’t sound like you are using it.”
Actually, you may be right about it being a chapter playlist problem, since I put each chapter in it’s own playlist as I did when I made SD DVD’s (per suggestions here a couple of years ago) and it didn’t work with the BluRay disks.
So is the playlist problem fixed in CS4 or have you figured out a work around for that problem?

When I created a bluray project and used chapter points in a single timeline to link to buttons on a menu, and burned the project to a bluray disk, and played the disk in my PS3, the menu would come up nicely, but selecting the buttons would not play the video.
I used separate timelines for the buttons, the buttons played appropriately.John

John,
Using Encore CS3, I never used any of the areas you mentioned in your bug report, so they didn’t cause me any problems with BluRay authoring.
What did bother me was that I never got the chapters to work, so I always had to use separate timelines instead of chapters andthe “default” button on a secondary menu was always incorrect (two even if I set it to one).
Are these still a problem in CS4, and if so do you have a work-around for them?

Here’s the thread I to which I was referring.

Matthew,
I put together a tutorial about this “Encore Menu Renders for Backgrounds” which is kind of long, but does explain the process.jmrser.com and go to tutorials.
There’s a great thread about this over at the Adobe forum, which I’ll provide if you wish, but they’re down this week-end. That’s where I discovered the idea that just using a video button in the menu and then cutting off the button routing to it wasn’t perfect for this job (ie creating a playing video in a window).

If you don’t want to or don’t have After effects, you can always use the menu renders from Encore to create something like an inaccessable window in your menu.

Actually, autoactivate does work on a “software DVD player” such as my version of PowerDVD. That is it functions like a set top player if you use the little keypad that reproduces the set top function of the computer DVD player.
On the other hand if you just mouse over the buttons, autoactivate isn’t “autoactivated ” unti you click on the button.
Check this “discussion”.

Serge,
Thanks so much. What I wound up doing was putting the TLI where I wanted the word to appear together (it was still stacked one letter on top of another), and then spread it out appropriately sliding it along the x axis. Then I could go home and move each controler where I wanted it so each letter would move along a bezier path into final position tracking the controler perfectly.
Thanks for teaching a ton about center points and how to set them up. You’re the man.

Serge, thanks so much for your informative tutorial.
Edward also thanks for your help.
However, I’m still lost a little.I think we want the text to wind up in position. I set position KF’s for all controlers at about 4 sec in TL so the final position would be set.
Then I went back Home, and tried to move the controler over the first letter. This moved the first letter away from the work along the x axis.
I then tried to reposition the first letter back into the word, by selecting it in the setup window and hitting “reset”, but nothing happens. The only way I could get the letter to realign was by trial and error which never works out perfectly.
Edward is that how you meant “reposition the letter into the original position, or is there a specific button to push.
Thanks again.
