Gday, just joined the forum and searched for my question already, but with no luck.

Using Encore CS3
I have one menu page.
Have linked the main movie to a text title heading (no chapters for this dvd)

I have tried to have a piece of footage looping in a thumbnail button.

This works when I preview, but I dont want the user to be able to click on it and viewing that piece of footage in the larger format.

So, the only way I have had it loop on the title page is if its made into a button.

Is there some way that I can have this 1 minute footage just looping inside of a box that I have created in photoshop and is not able to be clicked on??

Encore’s video thumbnail layers are for buttons only.

If you want a small video frame to not be a button, you’ll need to create the video file in Premiere or After Effects, import this video into Encore and make it the video background of your menu.

If you don’t want to or don’t have After effects, you can always use the menu renders from Encore to create something like an inaccessable window in your menu.

Ok John,

I might have a go to do something in after effects and import this into encore.

Im not sure what you mean by create an inaccessable window in encore as thats what I have been trying to do. Have the frames playing in a window that the user can not click on, just view.

I might also see how it looks with the whole video playing as the background.

Thanks, any other advice is welcome.

I put together a tutorial about this “Encore Menu Renders for Backgrounds” which is kind of long, but does explain the process.

jmrser.com and go to tutorials.

There’s a great thread about this over at the Adobe forum, which I’ll provide if you wish, but they’re down this week-end. That’s where I discovered the idea that just using a video button in the menu and then cutting off the button routing to it wasn’t perfect for this job (ie creating a playing video in a window).
