Jon,
Sorry the jmrser.com videos don’t work for you as they work ok for me. You could try this link, but it’s for SD and not BluRay.

You could also try Lynda.com . You could sign up for one month, and that would give you a thorough grounding.
Also, I bought a good book https://store.creativecow.net/a/the-focal-easy-guide-to-adobe/0240520041/ .I think “stories” are made by creating “chapters” in Encore, but I don’t think Chapters work for BluRay. I believe you would have to create a series of separate videos for your stories in Premiere, and then export them separately and import them into Encore as timelines.
You could hook up each timeline to a separate button, and if you wanted to play them sequenially, use a “playlist” (not chapter playlist) holding all your timelines.John Rich

When you bring up the Preview Window, down at the bottom are several controls including in the middle, “the pad” which has four arrows surrounding a button. The arrows are what moves the selection of the menu.
I don’t know how to work the upload of a picture either, but I don’t think it came up.
The subpicture highlight is crucial to a button. Do me a favor and check out these screen captures to see if they help.

Also, I’d get this book which even though it is for an older version of Encore, applies pretty much to your version.

This might be a good application of “Replacement Layers”.
You could make the menu with several replacement layers and then each week import the menu and your new stills and drag the stills into replacement layers.John Rich

Richard,
When I first started posting on these forums, I didn’t include computer specs, Encore version, etc, and the guy who answered gave me a little static.
Anyway, it appears to me, that somehow you have created a sub-picture highlight which is white in the “selected” state, so when you mouse over it, you turn on the selection subpicture hlt.
It would be interesting to see if the same thing happens when you use the “button pad”, of the Preview to see if the same thing happens. It would be helpful to know what the name of the subpicture highlight layer in Photoshop or Encore is ie is it (=1) HLT or something like that.
If the subpicture HLT is the problem, then you have to work that out.
How about posting back about the subpicture and maybe we can fix it

In the menu – motion tab set the loop point to where you want the motion of your buttons to start.
You could check out this screen capture for more details

Thanks for the help. I’m using IE 8, so I just turned down the zoom in the lower right corner and it fits.(I hadn’t seen that switch before).

Chris,
I think it would work better if you would make a new post for your question. That way your question would go to the top of the que. Otherwise, it will be down in the pack somewhere and likely to get lost.
Right now I would like to hear what other folks say, but it seems to me that even if you downsize the video, you will have too much stuff to put on a single sided DVD. Just my Humble opinion though.John Rich

If you aren’t using a PS3 to play back your BluRay on a regular DVD, you could
1. Create a BluRay ENcore Project
2. Burn the project as a BluRay .iso (image file)
3. Use ImgBurn to burn the .iso to a DVD and then play it on a BluRay player. On the other hand three years ago, this post describes how to make a PS3 playable BluRay DVD and at the end, the author was able to put 69 min of HDV material onto a dual sided DVD.
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/145/862674If you’re interested, I put together a tutorial on how to do the PS3 playable DVD BluRay, Reg DVD and PS3 down near the bottom of the list.

Mike,
Assuming you want to take some AVCHD footage you captured and put that together with some BLuRay sized menus you created in Photoshop and create a 20 min or less Bluray project on a regular DVD, I would suggest:
Use an AVCHD preset in PremPro CS4 (I’ve moved on to CS5), and export your timelines as BluRay Mpeg2 in Ad Med ENcoder.
Assemble your project as a BluRay in Encore and burn a BluRay .iso.
Then use Imgburn to burn the .iso to the DVD. (Remember NO chapter points )
This in my experience should play on a BluRay player assuming the firmware of the player is up to date.
I would be interested to hear how it works out.
