I’m trying to create a BluRay disk and am completely confused by Encore. I have a lot of experience with DVD Studio Pro but I cannot wrap my head around Encore. Can anyone direct me to a good tutorial for beginners with Encore? I’ve been to https://jmrser.com/ and the I can’t get a picture with the videos and https://tale2tell.com/ stops the tutorials with creating menus.

A little about my project: It’s a a Blu Ray with 2 films on it. There are 5 menus and each menu has an animated background. When the button is selected I want the text to be highlighted. I also want to create “Stories” (this is what they’re called in DVD SP) where the user can choose to play only a section of one of the films. I have all of my assets created. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Jon,
Sorry the jmrser.com videos don’t work for you as they work ok for me. You could try this link, but it’s for SD and not BluRay.

You could also try Lynda.com . You could sign up for one month, and that would give you a thorough grounding.
    Also, I bought a good book https://store.creativecow.net/a/the-focal-easy-guide-to-adobe/0240520041/ .

I think “stories” are made by creating “chapters” in Encore, but I don’t think Chapters work for BluRay. I believe you would have to create a series of separate videos for your stories in Premiere, and then export them separately and import them into Encore as timelines.
You could hook up each timeline to a separate button, and if you wanted to play them sequenially, use a “playlist” (not chapter playlist) holding all your timelines.

Menus I would recommend loading a preset and then right clicking and editing in Photoshop. This way you can see how it is structured.

Stories are timeline Chapter Playlists in Encore.

    Timeline / New Chapter Playlist.

    This may help!
