Brian,
I’m not sure what you mean by a BluRay “Project”. If you just mean playing a movie clip on Playstation3 or some other BluRay player, then you could do it your way or mine succssfully. What I was hoping for was some way to make an entire BluRay project including menus play on a DVD.Do you think ImagBurn could do that?
Thanks,

April 6, 2008 at 6:38 pm in reply to: How do you add a scaled video to a (motion) menu? (Not a button… an actual smaller sized video clip to the background)If you just wanted to do a still picture you could use a replacement layer.
However, for video you could create a video button and then hook up a timeline playing something but not include it in the button routing.
Also, you could create a picture in picture in After Effects or premiere and then use that as a background for your menu.

Jeff Bellune wrote a nice book(I can’t remember the exact title now, but I found it helpful). Try entering his name in Amazon. It’s for Encore 2.0, but I’m sure it has most of the stuff you need except BluRay authoring.
The other thing you could do is Google “Doogs” (no quotes) and he has a lot of very nice video tutorials that cover lots of photoshop stuff or even try jmrser.com.

I just found another way to do it by selecting the zoom key and then right clicking in the picture (not the canvas). Fit Image to canvas comes up and click it and there you are.

Dave,
I feel like an idiot (my very first time LOL). As I mentioned when I rendered out Video for Windows using the uncompressed format I kept getting these flashing lights when I played back on Windows Media Player. For some reason, I never tested the clips in Premiere. Today I did, and they play perfectly in Premiere with the alpha channel and everything.
I guess this must be a problem with Windows Media Player, and I’ll have to deal with that. Anyway, I think the AE is ok.Thanks again for your help.

Dave,
The “non working computer” actually worked perfectly alpha channel and all up, for three years , up until about two weeks ago.I’ll try the QT idea. Do you think it is possible for a codec to suddenly become corrupt and if so, is it possible to remove it and replace with a functional one?
Thanks,

Dave,
Thanks for answering. I had already set the “Rendering Plug-in” to “Advanced 3D” ie turned off “open GL hardware” in the advanced settings of the comp with no help so I changed to “standard 3D” and that didn’t help.I then copied the project to another computer and it rendered out perfectly with alpha chanel, etc. This is a simple comp with text and fractal noise and glow applied (an Ayato.com).
I’m thinking it must be a hardware problem now, but do you have any idea where I should start with that?
Thanks in advance.

Carlos,
I put this together which might help with what you want. It ran longer than I originally thought, so I split it into four.
The web site is jmrser.com and look under tutorials and the tutorial called the Four Little Movies. I made it with Camtasia and you may need to download the codec from the Camtasia web site (Google it) to see them.
Let me know if it helps.
PS For some reason I couldn’t get the picture to come up you posted over at the Photoshop Basics area. Am I doing something wrong there?

Sorry, don’t know what happened here, but perhaps the moderators can remove all but one of these posts I accidently just made.

I was just messing around with this, and to me it appears that one cannot have a video button on either side of the menu with the ” selected button” as the button link has to go to another menu with autoactivate selected. However, if you have eight buttons, then 6 of them could have button motion.
YOu might be able to get around this, by creating short clips of your destination movie for the two contiguous buttons, and then shrinking them in Preiere or AE and using this as a motion background. I think I’ll put this together as a screen capture, and if you want to see it let me know.
