  • Would the Zaxwerks reflection plugin make this tutorial obsolete then? I think I can hear my wallet opening.

Thanks Luke, got the utility but I don’t have a hdmi to dvi cable…yet for the test. As to the problems at 720 that pacbyte is having, double check the setup on the input for the hdmi from your remote and check to see what the freq signals are. Sometimes for whatever reason the signal looses sync. That shouldn’t happen but my Panasonic will let me change the freq and hopefully leave it fixed where’s it supposed to be. Kind of a pain. As for SD, I think the hdmi module is the culprit. Fixed at 525i for SD near as I can tell. Couldn’t even get it to like PAL either. One other strange behavior coming from FCP is it doesn’t like the supplied bars and tone from BMD dvd sample at 1080i. Won’t import. Quicktime plays it, FCP refuses to import it. Bang head on wall….

Just found out that I’m not the only one with BMD card problems on Panasonic hdmi module. The question seems to be whether or not the hdmi module supports SD. Thats out there a bit but the fact remains that I’ve played SD thru the HDMI port on my plasma. I’m thinking this card is still useful for hd monitoring but what a bummer that there’s a bug. Maybe in the next set of drivers?

Have you had any luck with SD to the HDMI module of the Panasonic? I have a 42 Panasonic Plasma and it will not display SD from the Intensity card either. I did try a dvd player with a rather plain vanilla SD dvd to the plasma and it worked perfectly. Somewhere on my desk are the specs for the hdmi module from Panasonic. When I find them I can shoot them to you on Monday if you’d like them.

I agree to some extent. Looking again at there website and manuals they make the claim that it can. And after receiving very limited reply from tech support, I would have expected an answer to whether or not I was out on a limb from BMD as to SD output. Can you say AJA?

BMD Tech support is looking into it. In theory, it should work according to their specs. They asked about the model plasma I’m using for monitoring. Plasma works with external dvd output to hdmi on same plasma input with no problems. Very frustrating, guess I’ll have to output thru firewire then out to component or S to plasma.

I tried a sony that also should work under FCE 3 (supported) but does not. Again imovie recognized the camera and captured. FCE 1.0.1 was installed before FCE 3. I upgraded to FCE 3. I haven’t had luck booting my external firewire with an OS installed. I’ll leave that for another day.

Both Sony and Canon camcorder did capture in FCE 1.0.1 on an older G4 500 running 10.3.2 confirming my suspicion that OS 10.3.9 on my laptop is “buggy”. I’ll have to install FCE 3 on older mac to confirm this. As for installing FCPro on my laptop, I can give that a try. I don’t have it installed on my laptop as it is not registered to me, but the company I work for.
