Anybody ever use the Intesity card with FCP? I can’t get it to output SD using there NTSC codec for the life of me. Their HD720 and 1080 codecs are working, but I drop signal output when switching to SD.

[JeremyG] “out of the HDMI? That’s Hd only.”

Not according to the product specs on their website:

    Supported HDMI formats – 525 NTSC, 625 PAL, 720HD and 1080HD switchable.

Well, it supports SD, but does it down convert?

If it does, then John needs to go into the Blackmagic system preferences panel and change his output to SD.

[JeremyG] “Well, it supports SD, but does it down convert?”

Again, just going by the specs on the website:
    HD Down Conversion
Real time 1080HD and 720HD to standard definiton during video playback.
Real time standard definition to 1080HD and 720HD during video capture.

Whether this actually works or not, I have no clue.

BMD Tech support is looking into it. In theory, it should work according to their specs. They asked about the model plasma I’m using for monitoring. Plasma works with external dvd output to hdmi on same plasma input with no problems. Very frustrating, guess I’ll have to output thru firewire then out to component or S to plasma.

Please take no offense, but I’d be shocked if a $300 card does a down convert, but maybe I am being short-sighted.

I agree to some extent. Looking again at there website and manuals they make the claim that it can. And after receiving very limited reply from tech support, I would have expected an answer to whether or not I was out on a limb from BMD as to SD output. Can you say AJA?

I do know that other bmd cards have claimed downconversion but it’s been done in software, not hardware. Also 720p24 d.c. wasn’t supported for a while, but that might have changed as well.

Just found out that I’m not the only one with BMD card problems on Panasonic hdmi module. The question seems to be whether or not the hdmi module supports SD. Thats out there a bit but the fact remains that I’ve played SD thru the HDMI port on my plasma. I’m thinking this card is still useful for hd monitoring but what a bummer that there’s a bug. Maybe in the next set of drivers?
