Thanks so much, Norman. Yes, it does sound complicated. No time to figure it out on this project, though. I’ll experiment in a timeline of just that transition. All those presets and not one with a cross: ridiculous.

I changed to stereo and it solved the problem! But I swear the 5.1 set-up was the out-of-the-box default sound config. It’s Vegas 13 which I recently purchased. Ironically I’ve loved the idea of doing a 5.1 surround sound audio mix. But as you can see I still have a steep learning curve before me! Thanks again, John for your patience in helping me.

I will do what you suggest. In the meantime I rendered an .AVI file and imported it, and had Encore transcode (?) it. I will get back to you.

Should I render and import separately video and audio streams? Also, Encore’s default setting has lower field priority, but Vegas MPEG default is Upper field first.

FYI: Also, I rendered a short length of the timeline and it was fine when I imported it.

The audio console is the default and I don’t know that I should have it configured for stereo. Let me make the modifications and I’ll send the new timeline screen capture.
