Kind of bad timing as AvidFX has been discontinued. No longer included with Avid MC.
Boris RED and Boris RED AVX are still available for purchase and have not been discontinued.
With Avid no longer bundling it, I would think the user base would be even smaller than it already is. Most avid users did not bother to learn it. -
Get keyboard covers (skins) for all the programs you use. Eventually you will learn them.
I am not employed by kb covers, I just own them and they are nicely made,
I believe Logic keyboard also makes them for all the major NLEs .

Unfortunately, there is no other way currently in Avid to manipulate stills at full resolution without using a plugin that links to the files externally. This is because Avid projects are not resolution independent. Any imported image gets downscaled to project pixel size, making it impossible to do “ken burns” style moves without loss of resolution, if you use Avid native resizing tools.
In version 7 and above, you can link to full res stills using AMA and use the new frame flex feature to do the moves, but it does not do rotation. It was designed more for reframing footage greater than HD, not really as a solution for stills.

The only times I have had anything go blooey with an install, it was because I forgot to do that.

“If you have not heard, AvidFX will no longer be developed. It is not included with MC8. As I stated in my earlier message, its really Boris RED, which is still being developed by BorisFX. Seems like Avid and Boris are not partnering to the extent that they were.

No fast way.
The only thing I could suggest might be to open each one of these Avid FX comps and then select “Save Consolidated Project”. This saves the project file and media for each one. Next, have your finishing guys download the trial for Boris Red, which I think is fully functional for 30 days. They should be able to open the comps in that. Avid FX is Boris RED, just rebranded for Avid. (they will no longer be doing that re-branding, but thats another subject).
If they can’t make use of that, get a hold of the bonehead who did not follow protocol and have him sort it out.

Adobe CC does not include Encore, but you are entitled to download the CS 6 version of Encore. In order to do that, you have to download and install Premiere Pro CS6 (its all one package). Its fine to have both CS 6 apps alongside CC apps, so no worries about conflicts. This is all done with the Creative Cloud App

One thng that needs to be mentioned about Plural Eyes and any other method that involves the software automatically syncing to your scratch audio….Cameras like the 5D and 7D on board audio is actually out of sync to its own picture by 1-2 frames..so if Plural Eyes syncs your external audio to it, that offset will follow. Has an offset feature even added to PE? I have not checked in awhile.

In fairness, the decision had more to do with Boris than Avid…but yeah, kind of a bummer.
They also no longer include AvidFX, which really was Boris RED rebranded, though older versions will still work, -
If you have upgraded from a previous version of Avid Symphony and you still have the older “full” BCC 8 package, it will still function with MC8. Just reinstall it and you will have everything. Unfortunately, Avid no longer includes the full BCC suite.
