Promote the title to 3D (button in lower right of effect editor). You should be able to key frame movement without affecting the background after that.
NewBlue Titler, Marquee and Avid FX offer more sophisticated animation ability than the basic titler, which is vintage 1998, if you are not getting satisfactory results.

Actually, Pro Tools can link to the BWAV files of all the split tracks without them ever being in the sequence, if the time code matches.

its a little convoluted, but stay with me…

If you want to change speeds of a matte key, you need to split the alpha channel (Matte) and the fill into separate clips.

Make a sequence.
Edit your imported Matte Key clip into the timeline.
Step into the clip (two arrows at bottom of your timeline). You will see the Matte and the fill as separate clips.
Select the Matte with your red arrow (Overwrite tool in smart tool)
Press Cmd-Alt-C to copy the clip into the source monitor

You can now step out and edit the matte into the timeline on video track 3
Step back in and select the fill clip with the red arrow
Press Cmd-Alt-C to copy the clip into the source monitor

Step out and edit the clip into the timeline on video track 2

Apply a Timewarp to each layer to adjust the speed. You should apply the same speed Timewarp to the fill and matte.

Apply a matte key effect from the effects palette on the clip on video track 3. Note: you may need to invert the key depending on how the matte was created.

Do you or the facility have a valid Avid support contract? Pretty much everyone has basic support, now that it’s mandatory to receive software updates/patches. If so, you are entitled to tech support from Avid. They should be able to look at your crash logs and figure out what might be going wrong. Any advice you receive here would be conjecture. It’s a very weird problem. For what it’s worth, I have seen that error before on Windows occasionally, in a Unity environment, where one edit room would get it and another wouldn’t. I think it’s file permissions related, but never had time to get to the bottom of it.

Had good success with Boris BCC flicker fix. A lot of of trial and error with the settings, but it was worth it.

Unfortunately, bcc doesn’t come free with avid anymore but the trial is fully functional for a limited time.

Try re linking and transcoding in sections (or by disc). AMA linking that much footage at once is likely maxing out your system resources.

Sounds frustrating and odd. I have not seen this behavior. Do you have a mix of stereo and mono tracks, by any chance?

Sounds like corrupt media then. If you have access to the original non-Avid MXF files, you might need to reload.

If thats not a possible. Try bringing it into DaVinci Resolve light and transcoding it.
