I am a new Avid Media composer user, and I need some very basic lessons on how to edit. I know how to set up a project and import media, but I need to learn the basic methods of editing. Can anyone recommend a book or a good video tutorial?

One of the few books that is great for both newcomers and experienced Avid editors..

Avid Agility by Steven Cohen. I have on my iPad as a Kindle book.

Lynda.com has tons of tutorials. As does Avid.com. You might also see if there is any educational facilities locally that offer Avid classes. Nothing beats hands on, in person instruction.

The tutorial videos on the Avid site don’t work for some strange reason. I’ll check out lynda and also the book. Thank you!
