No. This deck will not record to mini DV. I just Googled it.
I just double checked my AJ-D640. It only plays back miniDV—no recording.
Not sure if any Panasonic decks record miniDV.
Get a Sony deck if it must be miniDV or DVCAM.

Does this deck actually record mini DV ?….my Panasonic deck will only playback. (only records in DVCPRO—and I actually need to change the menu to DVCPRO)

You can use the matte to make the grass grow over the background video of your choice.
You would do this by placing this matte between on a video track between the grass video (put on top layer) and your background (bottom layer) and then selecting “travel matte-luma” as the compositing mode of the top layer clip.For more on this and other compositing modes see page III-366 in the FCP Help guide.

just delete your thumbnail cache and it will rebuild.

PAL uncompressed is upper field first (PAL DV is lower, though)

to make it clear….pasting the attribute “content” will actually replace one clip with another, but leave all filters, etc. intact.

Yes, but its not done the same way. Use Copy/Paste Attributes/Content.

The Nattress Converter is excellent.
Though Compressor 2 can do the job, it can literally take DAYS to render. Not really worth it unless you are talking about a couple of quick shots.
I did hear this will be improved in Compressor 3, but unless you have a top of the line Octo-core Mac Pro, I doubt it will be improved enough to be usable. -

Walter, which model is the top of the line graphics card for that machine (no PCI express) ?
I’d really like to go another year on my dual 2.0 G5 before getting an Intel box.
